I have a caregiver who needs this service very urgently,does anyone know of a facility that provides this,if not Kenyatta hospital? BERA/ABR TEST for hearing

This is one of the worst conditions of disability, Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus it is a condition that can only be corrected immediately after birth, to close the open spine but the child will be confined to wheelchair and use of diapers for the rest of their life even in their adulthood.Spina bifida can be managed by use of a wheelchair, hydrocephalus can be managed when a shunt is inserted in the brain to drain of the fluid from the brain, if shunt is not placed, it can lead to complications and even death.

So my advice to young aspiring mothers , please book for more advice and consultation on how to prevent this condition and on how to manage this condition once your child is a victim of this, prevention is better than cure.

My first born daughter turns a year older in the month of January. Hence visited one of the health facilities and donated infant clothes to maternal mothers at the post natal ward. Also shared with them to take great care of the newborn babies, to always monitor their developmental milestones and In case of any delayed milestone , severe fever or any alarming condition to take the babies for immediate medical check at the health facility not dispensary,for so doing this can prevent manageable conditions in children.
Children below the age of 5 years are prone to conditions and diseases hence need proper care and protection..

I asked, I seeked, I knocked at the door and the Lord answered my prayers 🙏 today Heart To Heart Smile members we privileged to get Christmas gift from one of my best friends, I will never tire to beg for my people it is my happiness to see them and their families happy during this season,
Fighting for the rights of the marginalized and the rights of caregivers will be my priority,the burden they go through is hell, not until you hear the sad stories from them is when you will feel in their shoes.
Plan and put God ahead of your plans and all shall be achieved..

Kisumu County Gender Technical Working Team has been having a weekly planning meeting being held at the Kisumu Office of State Department For Gender and Affirmative Action to launch The 16 Days of Gender Activism that starts from 25 November to 10 December,this year's theme: "End Digital Violence against all women and girls, join the UNiTE campaign to stop digital abuse."
Let's join unite and be the change makers of SGBV ,we have a new form of gender based abuse known as Technology Facilitated Gender based Violence causing havoc amongst women and girls,this is a silent killer that needs to be handled with care.
Big up to our president for signing the Digital Data Protection Act, it is a tool that will help curb the violence with strict measures put in place and regulations.

Between 25 November to 10 December marks the 16 Days of Gender Activism therefore,there will be lots of activities taking place,so please come out support and create awareness.

A statement was made to our president from caregivers, their plight in the act , inclusion and representation in decision making, challenges and way forward.

As an institution we are going to mark this event together with the caregivers and children having these two conditions supported by other like minded partners, friends and well wishers,we don't want to leave them behind but be with them, it hasn't been easy to coordinate but we trust all shall be well, creating an impact on the lives of caregivers and their children.
In marking this event our role is to.
1.Raise awareness and promote understanding and advocate for the rights of the individual with Spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
2.Create awareness of the prevention measure and management of both the conditions.
3.Engage the community on the Refferal pathways for early intervention..

We are an organization of persons with disability also registered under the national council for persons with disability,a national body that is mandated to look into issues affecting a wholesome disability fraternity and promote inclusion,we are not an organization for persons with disability.
All in all,we are driven to promote diversity and inclusion by the help of our friends and well wishers, we are not donor funded but built strength on local resource mobilization to drive out mission, vision and objectives and for that note,as an institution through our friend and well-wisher.
Tomorrow as we mark International Youth Day Themed: Local Youth Action For SDGS and Beyond,together with other stakeholders we are going to join the rest at Rotary Vocational Center starting from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm to mark this international event.
Two youths are going to be privileged to get wheelchairs and two pairs of walking aid (crutches). Leaving no one behind for greater tomorrow...
