It's been years of pain, struggle and frustrations for Caregivers and Parents of Children With Disabilities.
It's been years of no engagement nor inclusion of caregivers and parents of children with diverse conditions in decision making.
It's been years of no legislation frameworks to guide nor to implement issues affecting caregivers and parents of children with diverse conditions.
I myself I have faced and am still facing challenges, exclusion and no representation of my voice to the voiceless. I have personally pushed and faced ridicule but I have never tired up, i have raised my voice loudly to create awareness to the community...
I believe and know I have an identity, identity of standing strong, identity of being a champion, a champion for the disabled I have never judged nor excluded, my passion has been inclusive to all women, men, children, youths, girls, boys, the elderly and even the adolescents with disabilities
Last year 2025;our president Hon William Samoei Ruto signed a National Disability Act of 2025 that is in cognisant of Caregivers and Parents of Children With Disabilities, a legal framework that addresses issues of Caregivers and Parents of Children With diverse conditions.
No more exclusion
No more ridicule
No more stigmatization
No more being judgmental
No more burnout
But
More inclusion
More engagement
More data for planning and ex*****on
More prevention measures and awareness
Adiquate representation

📢 PRESS RELEASE
NATIONAL COALITION OF PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES – KENYA (NCP-CDK)
Kenya, we speak today not as individuals, but as millions of parents whose lives have been reshaped by disability care.
Behind every child with a disability in this country is a parent who has sacrificed employment, income, health, and dignity to provide lifelong care. Many caregivers are forced out of work. Many live in poverty. Many suffer in silence.
We want to be clear:
👉 We do not want KSh 2,000 survival tokens
👉 We demand KSh 10,000 monthly caregiver support for unemployed parents
👉 We demand tax exemption for employed parents of children with disabilities
This is not charity.
This is justice.
This is social protection.
This is recognition of unpaid national care work done by parents every day in Kenya.
Parents of children with disabilities are voters.
We are citizens.
We are families.
We are Kenya.
No nation can claim inclusion while caregivers remain trapped in poverty.
We therefore call upon:
🇰🇪 Government of Kenya
🇰🇪 Ministry of Labour & Social Protection
🇰🇪 National Treasury
🇰🇪 Parliament of Kenya
🇰🇪 All leaders and policymakers
to urgently adopt policies that guarantee economic dignity for caregivers and protection for families of children with disabilities.
Our message is simple and unwavering:
Nothing for Our Children Without Parents at the Table.
✊🏾 We will speak.
✊🏾 We will organize.
✊🏾 We will be heard.

To: National Treasury, Kenya
Assalamu Alaikum / Good afternoon,
I, Eng. Ibrahim Adan Ibrahim, General Secretary of the National Coalition of Parents of Children with Disabilities – Kenya (NCP-CDK), write on behalf of millions of parents across Kenya whose children with disabilities face daily struggles.
Parents sacrifice jobs, income, and health to care for children with autism, cerebral palsy, and other disabilities. Many children are denied education, therapy, and even basic care, while their families face overwhelming financial burdens.
As GS of NCP-CDK, I respectfully and urgently request that the National Treasury allocate 5% of the national budget specifically to support parents of children with disabilities. This allocation should ensure:
Inclusive education with special units in every government school
Trained teachers, therapists, and support staff
Learning materials, assistive devices, medicine, and essential daily care
Support for families so that no parent is left to struggle alone
Every delay denies children their rights and burdens parents unnecessarily. This is a matter of justice, dignity, and hope for millions of Kenyan families. We urge the Treasury to plan a compassionate and impactful budget, reflecting the true needs of children with disabilities and their families.
With determination and hope,
Eng. Ibrahim Adan Ibrahim
General Secretary – NCP-CDK
