Empower your children enough so they can pick grooming and be able to name them even after they have been rescued from abusers.
Majority of children go through it before the actual attack happens , but because they don't know, they may believe that the inappropriate touches, hugs, plays are just normal.

Today we joined Tinada Youth Action Africa attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Elly Junior Academy, Esumeyia. The meeting brought together community members, stakeholders, and partners to discuss community development and wellbeing.
While TINADA Youth Action Africa facilitated on mental health awareness talk. NeuroRoots focused on how children mental health can be destroyed or build thrpugh families and commmunity setups

While appreciating the few fathers who showed up, they were encouraged to continue to stand in for their children and not let the mothers carry the burden alone.

Parents were encouraged to practice healthy dialogue and reduce violence so that children can grow their emotional intelligence through their parents actions.

Children dance into the future on the feet of their parents, they carry the past within them , measuring their steps to its rhythm.

NeuroRoots continues to support parents in choosing the right rythms that their children can dance to as they become adults.

In Kenya, many children with developmental disabilities go unnoticed or are misunderstood. Developmental disabilities such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and intellectual disability affect how a child learns, communicates, behaves, or processes information. These are not curses, laziness, or bad parenting — they are neurodevelopmental differences. With early identification, family support, and inclusive schools, every child can learn, grow, and reach their potential."

Day Four – Fostering Family Connection 💛

Strong families build strong children.

Today at NeuroRoots Children’s Mental Health Week, we focus on the power of connection at home — whether in single-parent homes, two-parent families, or children’s homes. Every child deserves love, stability, and emotional safety.

When families communicate, listen, and show up consistently, children grow resilient, confident, and mentally strong.

Let’s build homes where children feel seen, heard, and deeply supported. 🌿

Today is day three of NeuroRoots children"s mental health week, we pause with empathy.
Oppositional behavior is not defiance for defiance’s sake—it is often a child’s language of pain, frustration, unmet needs, or feeling unheard.
Behind the “no,” the anger, the resistance, is a child asking:
“Do you see me?”
“Do I feel safe?”
“Do I matter?”
At NeuroRoots, we choose connection over control, curiosity over punishment, and compassion over labels. When we listen before we correct, we create space for healing. When we guide instead of fight, we teach trust.
Today, we remind caregivers, teachers, and communities:
Behavior is communication.
And every child deserves to be understood before they are disciplined.

Day Three of the NeuroRoots Children’s Mental Health Week was a special celebration as we marked the 12th birthday of one of our own—Ebby, a neurodivergent child whose journey inspired the birth of this organization.

With the right support, Ebby has shown remarkable improvement in his reading and overall learning. Through the use of assistive learning devices, he is able to study effectively without being rushed, pressured to pass exams, or forced to compete with others. He is encouraged to learn at his own pace, an approach that has helped him develop a love for learning rather than fear or resentment toward it. His learning is not restricted; instead, he is allowed to explore, and this freedom has greatly expanded his knowledge and confidence.

Ebby has also become the family’s go-to device technician, restoring gadgets and bringing them back to working condition. Currently, he is working on an app designed to help teachers and parents support neurodivergent children to learn, enjoy the process, and thrive while doing so.

If you notice your child is struggling with learning, try and take them for assessment instead of punishing, calling them lazy, or making them compete with others.

Early detection can save the child from embarrassment and the hate for studying.

Happiest birthday Ebby.
