Picky Eating in School-Going Children
Picky eating is when a child regularly refuses certain foods, eats only a small variety of foods, avoids new foods, or insists on specific textures, colours, or brands. It is common in children, but if not handled well, it may affect growth, concentration, immunity, and school performance.
Common Causes
Picky eating may be caused by fear of new foods, previous unpleasant food experiences, pressure to eat, too many snacks, preference for sweet or salty foods, sensory issues, or lack of routine at mealtimes. Pressure and force-feeding can worsen refusal behaviours
