We're still buzzing from our AFMH Conversation Series - Kenya Edition! 🙌 Our incredible panel of providers from Kenya's hospital systems walked us through the country's mental health landscape, sharing insights on signs & symptoms, care pathways for in-patient and out-patient, and resources. We explored critical topics like children's mental health, men's mental health, trauma, PTSD, women's mental health.💡

Thanks to Dr. Victoria Wamukhoma-Yoti, Mathari National Teaching & Referral Hospital; Ms. Gathoni Mbugua, Chiromo Hospital Group & AAR Hospital; Dr. Rajab Saddam, Kenyatta National Hospital &
Kenya Psychiatric Association- KPA
; and Dr. Prashna Shah, M.P. Shah Hospital for sharing their expertise!

In our second session, our community came together to reflect on what's working, what's not, and how we can move forward together. We unpacked barriers, opportunities, and collective actions to normalize mental illness, increase capacity, and build a supportive community 💪🏿. This conversation series reinforced the importance of Centering the Lived Experiences of individuals living with mental health condition(s) and family caregivers, the reason why AFMH was started 9 years ago. As we closed the day, we reminded ourselves: "I am not alone. I am seen. I am heard. I am loved." 💛💚💜

We affirmed the conversation with our mantra is: I am Africans for Mental Health and my journey to mental wellness is.... What's yours? Reflect with us! Let's keep this conversation going!

Cold weather can cause Narcan to freeze at 5°F or below. When frozen, the spray will not work. After Narcan fully thaws at room temperature (about 15 minutes), it can be used and is effective.

If an overdose is suspected while Narcan is frozen, do not wait — call 911 right away. If the person is not breathing or is breathing slowly, provide rescue breathing until Narcan can be given and help arrives.

Get free Narcan, mailed to your home or available locally across Pennsylvania through our Overdose Prevention Program. Link in the comments. ⤵️
