🌍 World NTD Day 2026 | Unite. Act. Eliminate.
Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) still affect over a billion people worldwide, a burden carried mostly by underserved communities across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. But the path to elimination is becoming clearer: global commitment must meet local action.
In Kenya, this global movement is visible on the ground. Through community outreach programs, school health initiatives, community health volunteers, and strengthened primary healthcare, prevention and early treatment are reaching people who were once left behind. These local efforts mirror a wider global shift, from managing NTDs to eliminating them through community-driven solutions.
Ending NTDs is more than a health target. It supports education, protects livelihoods, reduces stigma, and advances health equity. It also connects to broader challenges like poverty, access to clean water, sanitation, and the changing environment.
The 2026 call to “Unite. Act. Eliminate.” reminds us that success depends on partnership, from global health institutions and governments to local health workers and communities.
When global solidarity supports community action, neglect ends, and elimination becomes achievable.
