Amicus Health FLAGs

Amicus Health FLAGs Trusted & Reliable Friend We connect expectant women with risky pregnancy to financial support and specialized care.

Risky pregnancy is characterized by either maternal morbidity like preeclampsia, eclampsia or mental health, or obstetric violence. Through our platform, obstetricians acquire a self-service chatbot that can educate their clients/patients of the signs and symptoms of risky pregnancies, it will then engage them on a risk classification exercise soliciting answers to five questions at least three times a week. The doctor will then be able to view the risk level of their clients/patients well in advance for relevant interventions as a way of improving maternal outcomes. Those patients/clients or prospective patients/clients at high risk but with no finance to seek specialized care are then considered for financing through our partnering Faith Based Organization

Knowing your health risks will motivate you to take action.

At Amicus Health, we let you know your health risks before it occurs for you to take action and stay safe.

Preeclampsia and Eclampsia are hypertensive conditions affecting pregnant women and unfortunately can only be detected after 20 weeks of pregnancy. In some occasions, this is detected as late as after 34 weeks of pregnancy and the late it is to detect the risky the pregnancy.

Hypertensive disorders are the second leading causes of maternal mortality in Africa. In Kenya maternal mortality has grown by 71.4% since 2012 currently standing at 594 deaths for 100000 live births (USAID) against the target of 70 deaths for every 100000 live births by 2030 (SDG Goal 3)

Our AI model is capable of predicting the risk level of a pregnant mother leading to the possibility of early detection and close monitoring by up to 35%.

After the 13th week, our machine learning model will be able to classify with an accuracy of 89% the risk level of a pregnant woman suffering from preeclampsia and therefore enabling doctors have enough time to closely monitor the mother to a successful term birth.

Knowing your risk level motivates you to take action.

Our Team Lead Ayub Robert, with part of the team Ashley Kokonya and Saina Mbaya receiving Certificate from Mr. Hugo Spaulding - the Senior Investment Associate ~ Women's World Banking at the InnovateAgainstGBV Business Competition Awards Ceremony held at Trade Development Bank.

The event sponsored by JICA MEMM 2017 NAIROBI COUNTY, GrowthAfrica - Growth Frontiers, The National Gender and Equality Commission-Kenya was yet another milestone achieved in the fight against Gender Based Violence.

Team Amicus Innovation at the event was showcasing how we use Artificial Intelligence to automatically generate answers to questions asked by Facebook followers of various NGOs and CBOs from their pages 24/7.

The generated answers provide a legal context to the questions asked by quoting the law from various sources that protect people from online violence and/or Gender Based Violence.

The use of Blockchain was also showcased where the identity of any Gender Based Violence Survivors is guarded and protected using technology. Besides normal encryption of the personal data, Amicus platform guarantees only three people will ever access the Personal Identifying Information of any GBV Survivor and that is The Social Worker, Medical Doctor and The Lawyer.

Join me in congratulating Team Amicus for this milestone and thanks to the leadership of President of AmicusSTUDIO Ayub Robert for making this happen.

AmicusSTUDIO is a team of Law Students and Legal Professionals coming together to Use Technology to Create awareness of the Injustices faced within Communities and provide a technology driven platform where reporting and technical support can be provided to those affected by those injustices.
