Yeast infection is very common during pregnancy. Hormonal changes normally disrupt the va**nal pH leading to reduction/ imbalance of Lactobacillus bacteria which normally acts to prevent yeast overgrown.
Other studies suggest that increased estrogen hormone creates a more hospitable environment for yeast to thrive.
It should therefore be treated because it can lead to other complications but rarely especially in the third trimester.
THE FOLLOWING STEPS CAN REDUCE RISK OF YEAST INFECTION TO ANY FEMALE.
1) wipe front to back after using toilets
2) avoid using scented tampons, pads and panty liners
3) change tampons, pads and panty liners often
4) avoid very hot baths and hot tabs
5) wear underwear with a cotton lining to promote airflow
6) do not do**he, which removes healthy va**nal bacteria that prevent infection
7) wear loose fitting clothing
8) manage your blood sugar e.g in gestational diabetes
9) remove wet workout clothes and swimming suits as soon as possible.
Consult your doctor concerning treatment.
