"DEEP VENOUS THROMBOSIS"(DVT)
DVT is when blood clot blocks a blood vessel most commonly in the lower limbs.They are uncommon in the upper limb and neck veins.
Approximately 200,000 patients are hospitalized each year for the treatment of acute DVT, although the majority of patients with DVT are asymptomatic (have no symptoms)
Risk factors are age(increases with age), surgery, trauma, immobilization, pregnancy and malignancy (cancer).
The signs and symptoms of acute DVT include; pain, arythema(redness of skin) and swelling.
Numerous studies and extensive clinical experience have proved that sonography (ultrasound) is the ideal technique for diagnosing DVT since it is accurate and non-invasive.

YOLKSAC
The yolk sac is the 1st structure to be seen normally within the gestational sac. Using  transabdominal ultrasound,  it is often  seen when the mean gestational sac diameter  (MSD) is 10-15 mm. Transvaginal ultrasound  techniques allows earlier and more detailed visualization of the yolksac.
The demonstration of a yolksac maybe critical in differentiating an early Intrauterine gestational sac from  a pseudo sac.
