Today, as millions around the world mark the end of Ramadan with prayer, gratitude, and togetherness, we hold in our hearts the communities in north-east Nigeria who continue to endure displacement, food insecurity, and the heavy burden of prolonged crisis.

As we celebrate this season of faith, compassion, and renewal, we are reminded that true solidarity means not only rejoicing with those in moments of peace but also standing with those whose joy is shaped by survival, loss, and resilience.

May this Eid bring healing to wounded hearts, strength to struggling families, and hope to every community longing for safety, dignity, and restoration.

Eid Mubarak from the Digital Rights and Mental Health Initiative (DRMHI).

FROM BORNO STATE, NIGERIA - GIVE TO GAIN

In celebration of International Women's Day, we conducted a mental health awareness and community outreach in Borno State to appreciate, support, and empower women.

The outreach created a space to interact with women, listen to their experiences, share valuable information, and remind them that their voices, strength, and contributions matter. Women are the backbone of many families and communities, and their resilience continues to inspire hope and progress.

Together, we continue to advocate for women's empowerment, equality, and opportunities everywhere.

Happy International Women’s Day!

On International Women’s Day 2026, let’s celebrate the remarkable women shaping our world.

Today I want to appreciate Joy Hassan Amin, the Advocacy Lead for the Women Digital Futures Africa-WDFA project and one of our valued partners. Her strategic advice directly contributed to the success of several advocacy campaigns and significantly improved our outreach.

Through her advocacy and collaboration, Joy has expanded our partner network, increased digital rights awareness, and advanced efforts towards justice and safer spaces for communities.

Grateful for our ongoing partnership and shared progress.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!

08/03/2026

Today we celebrate the strength, creativity, and contributions of women across Africa and around the world. 🎉

Across the continent, women and girls are shaping communities, supporting families, leading change, and building the future in countless ways. Their resilience, ideas, and leadership continue to transform societies every day.

At Women's Digital Futures Africa’s (WDFA), we believe that Africa’s digital transformation must include women not only as users of technology but also as creators, decision-makers, and innovators. Ensuring women have access to digital knowledge, safe online spaces, and opportunities to thrive is essential to building inclusive digital futures.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain", reminds us that when we invest in women’s access to knowledge, safety, and opportunity, everyone benefits. Communities grow stronger. Innovation expands. Futures change.

Today we celebrate women everywhere and reaffirm our commitment to supporting more women and girls to shape Africa’s digital future.

Give to Gain – Invest in African Women’s Digital Futures.

Happy International Women’s Day 2026.

From Love Malgwi, our Executive Director's desk:

As we mark International Women’s Day 2026, growing up in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria, I am reflecting on how the insurgency has shaped my life and strengthened my commitment to mental health advocacy. I hope that one day mental health care will be accessible to every girl and woman in my community, as well as to data workers and AI trainers.
I founded Digital rights and Mental Health initiatives DRMHI because I believe mental health care should be a lifeline, not a privilege. In January and February 2026, we reached over 5,000 women through awareness webinars and in-person community and back-to-school outreach programs.
Our project, Women Digital Futures Africa-WDFA , is currently running a women-focused six-week SafeTech Fellowship for 10 fellows. We are not just talking about the problems; we're working toward solutions and building the skills our communities need to make a difference.
As a clinical psychologist and through our organization, I am committed to reaching more women and girls by the end of 2026, because access to mental health care can change lives, restore dignity, and create hope for the future.
We welcome funding and partnership support to expand this work and ensure that more women and girls in underserved communities can access the mental health care, knowledge, and resources they deserve.
