Television and also social media for that matter has its redeeming values, but mostly it bombards us with images of conflict, violence and exploitation.

Try cutting down TV time gradually by substituting other activities that you find enjoyable. Have a family games night, take the dog for a walk or read a book. Have days with no television.

We will know that sleep helps the body to repair itself, increase focus and concentration, but did you know it also plays an important role in happiness? Scientific studies have proven that sleep affects our sensitivity to negative emotions. So if you want to be more resilient, get an early night.

Getting a good night's sleep is key to productivity and happiness the next day.

Create an environment in your bedroom that is as serene and relaxing as possible, and aim for 7-9 hours a night.
