Cervical cancer occurs in the cervix, the lower, narrow end of the uterus. It is primarily caused by persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV).
Cervical cancer is preventable and highly treatable when detected early.
Prioritize HPV vaccination, regular screening, and timely treatment.

The National Cancer Control Program (NCCP) was represented at the launch of the Theragnostic Training Program at KUTRRH on 10th November 2025, graced by Dr. Zainab Gura (CEO, KUTRRH), Dr. Kariuki (CEO, KMPDC), and Dr. Toro (PS Medical Services Representative), alongside participants from cancer treatment centres offering nuclear medicine.
Theranostics combines therapy and diagnostics, using targeted radioactive agents to both detect and treat cancer — a true leap toward personalized medicine.
The program marks the introduction of Lutetium-177 for managing castrate-resistant prostate and neuroendocrine cancers — the first in a public facility in the region and a major milestone for cancer care and nuclear medicine in Kenya.
