Kenya Institute of Primate Research - KIPRE joined the global community in commemorating by planting 3,000 indigenous and medicinal tree seedlings at Oloolua Forest to restore primate habitats and strengthen ecosystem resilience. This initiative underscores KIPRE’s steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability and aligns with Kenya’s national conservation and afforestation agenda under the Presidential Tree Growing Initiative.
Through an insightful presentation, Dr Peter Fundi reflected on the history and significance of World Wildlife Day, emphasizing the vital role of conservation in safeguarding biodiversity and securing livelihoods. His call to action encouraged stakeholders to integrate science, policy, and community engagement; conserve medicinal plant diversity; protect livelihoods; and translate awareness into measurable ecological impact.
We were honored by the presence of the Senior Chief from Nkaimurunya Ward and the Deputy principal, Kenya Medical Training College Karen Campus, whose participation highlighted the value of collaborative partnerships in advancing sustainable conservation efforts.
