It is with deep sorrow that I acknowledge the tragic incident that occurred in Chaka, Nyeri Town, where a young man lost his life to su***de. Reports indicate that during his final moments, he was seen on a building’s sixth floor by bystanders who tragically misunderstood his distress as attention-seeking. Instead of receiving the urgent help he needed, he was mocked and dared to jump. Moments later, he fell to his death.

First and foremost, I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and friends. No words can adequately express the pain of such a loss, and we stand with you in this dark hour.

This incident highlights a critical need for community awareness and education on mental health and su***de prevention. Mental distress is not a spectacle it is a serious cry for help. As a society, we must learn to recognize the signs of emotional crisis and respond with empathy, not judgment.

As a Clinical Psychologist and the incoming Chairperson of the Kenya Counsellors and Psychologists Association (KCPA), Nyeri County Chapter, I commit to taking immediate steps to address these gaps. We will organize a community mental health awareness campaign, focusing on su***de prevention, empathy, and appropriate intervention strategies. Additionally, we will coordinate a debriefing and support session for the affected family, offering psychological first aid and grief support.

Let this tragic event be a turning point for us all to choose compassion over mockery, and action over indifference.

🎄✨ Mental Health Check-In During the Holidays ✨🎄 by PsPsychcareCounselling Consultancye holiday season is often a time for joy, but it's important to recognize that it can also bring a mix of emotions for many of us. Between the celebrations, the expectations, and the end-of-year reflections, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. And let's be real – January is right around the corner, and with it often comes the reality of getting back to "normal" life... and the financial pressures that come with it. 💸

Take a moment to breathe. It's okay to not feel 100% festive or energized. Your mental health matters, and it’s perfectly fine to acknowledge if this season feels a little harder than usual.

❤️ Here’s a reminder:

It’s okay to set boundaries – saying “no” is a form of self-care.

If you’re struggling financially, know you’re not alone. It’s a tough time for many.

Give yourself grace – the holidays don’t have to be perfect, and neither do you.

Reach out if you need support – talking to someone can make all the difference.

Let’s start 2025 by remembering we don’t have to carry everything alone. ❤️

FEMICIDE FEMICIDE

STOP KILLING WOMEN

In recent years, media reports have shown a concerning rise in cases of women being killed by their intimate partners. Despite this, there has been a notable absence of consolidated data to provide a comprehensive picture. Over the past months, we have meticulously seen news reports from reputable Kenyan sources, compiling over 500 cases spanning from January 2016 to December 2023. Through this comprehensive collection of killings, it becomes evident that these tragedies are far more than have been identified. And that the cases are not isolated; instead, they reveal recurring patterns, indicating a deeper and more systemic issue.
I am a husband to a lady
I am am a brother to a lady
I am a father to a baby girl
I have female friends too

I strongly condemn FEMICIDE

I SAY NO TO FEMICIDE.

You can refuse to stress yourself over the things you can't control and change. We are currently going through the World Mental Health Awareness Month... It is important to check or ask anyone how are they doing specially everyone does not speak up and maybe suffers in silence. We must be aware that anyone can experience Anxiety or Depression or any mental health illnesses. If anybody would seek for your help about their mental health you can check the following statements that are listed.

What Causes Mental Illnesses?

•Genetics - mental illness often runs in the family
•Environment - Living in a stressful environment can make you more likely to develop a mental illness. Things like living in poverty or having an abusive family put a lot of stress on your brain and often trigger mental illness.
•Childhood trauma - Even if you’re no longer in a stressful environment, things that happened to you as a child can have an impact later in life.
•Negative Thoughts - Constantly putting yourself down or expecting the worst can get you stuck in a cycle of depression or anxiety.
•Unhealthy Habits - like not getting enough sleep, or not eating.
•Drugs and alcohol - Abusing drugs and alcohol can trigger a mental illness. It can also make it harder to recover from mental illness.
•Brain Chemistry - Mental illness involves an imbalance of natural chemicals in your brain and your body.

“You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection."
