That constant neck stiffness after work is not something to ignore. Long hours on computers and phones place repeated strain on the neck and upper back.

When neck pain becomes frequent or persistent, early physiotherapy assessment can prevent it from progressing into a long-term condition.

PUBLIC STATEMENT
Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK) is a regulatory body established under an Act of parliament (Physiotherapy Act No.20 of 2014) whose main function is to make provision for training and licensing of physiotherapists and to regulate their practice.

The Council wishes to notify the general public that Medprime Training College Campuses and Nyahururu Medical Training College are NOT accredited, approved, or recognized by the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya to offer training programmes in physiotherapy.

Accordingly, any physiotherapy training undertaken at the above-mentioned institutions is not recognized by PCK, and graduates from such programmes shall not be eligible for registration, internship, licensing, or practice as physiotherapists in Kenya, as required by law.

The public is therefore advised to exercise due diligence and ensure that they enroll only in PCK-accredited institutions before undertaking any physiotherapy training.

The human body is not designed to sit for long, uninterrupted hours. Prolonged sitting reduces circulation, stiffens joints, and increases the risk of muscle pain.

Standing up, stretching, or walking briefly every hour helps reset your body and protects your spine. Even short movement breaks count.

Most office-related pain starts quietly, with how we sit every day. Slouching, leaning forward, or perching on the edge of the chair slowly strains the spine and surrounding muscles.

Good posture supports your back, reduces fatigue, and helps prevent chronic neck and lower back pain. Simple adjustments to your sitting position can make a real difference over time.

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month 🌸

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable and treatable cancers. And yet, it continues to claim the lives of far too many women in Kenya. That contrast alone tells us there is still work to do.

This January, the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK) joins the global community in raising awareness and encouraging action toward the elimination of cervical cancer. Prevention is possible. Early detection works. And informed choices save lives.

What Prevention Looks Like:

1. HPV Vaccination
The HPV vaccine is the most effective way to prevent cervical cancer. Parents and guardians are encouraged to ensure girls aged 9–14 receive the vaccine. It is safe, effective, and available at public health facilities across the country.

2. Regular Screening
Routine cervical cancer screening, through Pap smears or HPV DNA testing, helps detect changes early, long before they become life-threatening. Early diagnosis makes treatment simpler and more successful.

3. Healthy, Informed Living
Understanding risk factors and maintaining a healthy lifestyle plays a big role in prevention and long-term wellbeing.

As a regulator committed to promoting health, mobility, and quality of life, PCK supports national efforts to improve access to preventive healthcare services. Through the Social Health Authority (SHA), we continue to advocate for care that is accessible, affordable, and patient-centered.

Let’s protect our mothers, sisters, and daughters.
Encourage screening. Support vaccination. Start the conversation today.

New year, same body. It still needs to move.

A little walking. A bit of stretching. Maybe dancing in the living room when no one’s watching counts. Staying active is one of the simplest gifts you can give yourself this year.

Let’s make movement part of the routine, not a resolution that fades by February.
You can consult your physiotherapist to guide you safely.
