Based on the preliminary research findings by the University of Nairobi, Villgro Africa, and IDRC / CRDI, 91.1% of respondents had at least a secondary school education (6.7% primary level + 22.8% secondary level + 32.5% tertiary/college + 35.6% university). This underscores the connection between education and understanding the importance of blood donation.

The more we learn, the better equipped we are to save lives. With the Damu Sasa App, you can:

How did you first hear about blood donation?

The more people hear about blood donation, the more likely they are to donate. Let’s keep spreading the word, it only takes one conversation to inspire someone to save a life. Preliminary findings from a research conducted by the University of Nairobi, in partnership with IDRC / CRDI and Villgro Africa, highlight how people first learn about blood donation and what inspires them to give.

Kenya faces a significant blood shortage. We need 1 million units annually to meet the WHO's target, but in 2021, only 250,000 units were collected. Together, we can close this gap!
