đŚ What is H. pylori?
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a type of bacteria that infects the stomach.
It is one of the most common bacterial infections worldwide.
Many people get it in childhood and may not show symptoms for years.
â ď¸ It spreads:
Through contaminated food or water.
By direct contact with saliva, vomit, or stool of an infected person.
Poor hygiene (not washing hands after using the toilet or before meals) increases risk.
𩺠Symptoms of H. pylori infection
Some people have no symptoms, but when they appear, they may include:
Burning or gnawing stomach pain (often worse on an empty stomach).
Bloating and excessive burping.
Nausea or vomiting.
Loss of appetite.
Unexplained weight loss.
In severe cases: vomiting blood or black/tarry stools (signs of bleeding ulcer).
