*KENYA's PRIDE FROM VIHIGA COUNTY.*
On 12th December 2025, Fanis Liasiagali was honoured by H.E. The President - Dr. William Ruto. She was awarded the H.S.C.
Fanis, the Executive Director of Healthcare assistance Kenya (HAK 1195) was awarded the Head of State's Commendation (H.S.C.) under Civilian Division Awards, for demonstrating exemplary qualities, actions, and achievements of patriotism and leadership for the benefit of the country.
Fanis has impacted many lives in all the 47 counties of Kenya through her well thought Gender Based Violence innovation that addresses GBV in the entire country.
Her dedication to serve Kenyans is towards transformation of lives in all the 47 counties while utilizing Technology.
Her initiative has been admired by many both nationally and internationally.
Her success is drawn from the support of other like-minded stakeholders i.e. The Ministry of Gender through the State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action, Ministry of Health, Communications Authority of Kenya, UN Agencies, Embassies such as USAID, Private sector - Safaricom and Airtel, Gender Violence Recovery Centres, Ambulance Service providers, Legal Aid among others.
Fanis runs a virtual GBV programme. She started by creating a 24/7 GBV Rapid Response Call Centre that is manned by a dedicated team of Tele-Counsellors who support survivors of Gender Based Violence/ Domestic Violence to access quick GBV services after experiencing violence such as R**e, Defilement,
Female Ge***al Mutilation, Physical violence, Emotional abuse,
Technically Facilitated GBV.
Fanis also established the national 24/7 GBV Rapid Response Toll Free Helpline 1195 which enhances the breaking of silence and reporting of GBV cases such as r**e, defilement, so**my, physical assault, emotional abuse, denial of resources, etc. such cases are reported anonymously yet confidentially through the national GBV Toll Free Helpline 1195.
Fanis has recorded other achievements for her commitment in serving Kenyans:
1. Yr. 2014 Commendation by the UN systems in Kenya for creating a GBV Rapid Response System for survivors of Gender Based Violence.
2. Yr. 2014 Won Recognition by USAID in Washington DC in as the most outstanding Human Rights Defender in Kenya and East Africa for utilizing the latest Technology to address GBV for protection of vulnerable women and girls survivors.
3. Yr. 2021, Fanis Lisiagali won The UN's Global Science and Technology Innovations Award for utilizing Technology to address GBV in Kenya and for supporting over 6000 survivors of to access GBV services during the COVID-19 crisis.
4. Fanis Lisiagali won the organization - Healthcare Assistance Kenya the 2023 Trailblazer Award - The Digital Reproductive Health initiative for Adolescent Girls and Young Women at risk and survivors of GBV. The award was presented to Fanis by H E. Dr. William Ruto.
She works hard to ensure we are all safe from GBV and that no one lives in fear.
