Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, accounting for thousands of new cases every year.

📊 Around 2,800 men are diagnosed annually and 1,300 lose their lives.
⚠️ Sadly, 80% of cases are diagnosed late, when treatment options are limited.

But there is hope:
✅ Early screening (PSA test) saves lives.
✅ New treatments such as PSMA PET CT imaging and Lutetium-177 therapy are improving outcomes. (AKUH)

👉 This September, let’s break the stigma around men’s health, encourage early screening, and save lives.

💙 September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month 💙
In Kenya, gynecologic cancers remain a major health challenge for women. According to the National Cancer Institute of Kenya (NCI–Kenya):

🔹 Cervical cancer is the 2nd most common cancer among women, making up 13.3% of all female cancers in 2022. Each year, an estimated 5,236 women are diagnosed, and over 3,200 die.
🔹 Ovarian cancer accounts for about 1,126 new cases and 798 deaths annually.
🔹 Uterine cancer adds another 735 new cases and 223 deaths each year.
🔹 Though less common, vulvar (157 cases) and vaginal (65 cases) cancers also claim lives.
⚠️ Many of these cancers are diagnosed late, when treatment options are limited.

✅ What can we do?
🔹 Go for regular screenings (Pap smears, HPV testing)
🔹 Ask about the HPV vaccine.
🔹 Pay attention to warning signs like abnormal bleeding, persistent bloating, or pelvic pain.
🔹 Encourage open conversations about women’s health.

👉 Together, we can reduce the burden of gynecologic cancers in Kenya.
