2025 marked 10 years of Malaika Initiative.

Ten years of showing up even when resources were limited.

Ten years of caregivers who refuse to give up.

Ten years of children teaching us resilience, patience and hope.

We didn’t have everything we needed but we never stopped.

As we step into 2026, we remain committed to every child and caregiver who walks through our doors.

Empowering Disability, One Family at a Time.

🌍💚 World Cerebral Palsy Day 2025 💚🌍

Theme: Unique & United

Today, the Malaika Family stands proudly with millions across the world celebrating the incredible strength, love and courage within the cerebral palsy community.

Every child’s journey is unique, every caregiver’s love is unmatched. At Malaika, we’ve seen what happens when families come together in hope and community; progress happens, joy returns and no one walks alone.

💡 Did You Know?
✔️ Cerebral Palsy is the most common lifelong physical disability.
✔️ It affects movement and posture but not dreams, laughter or purpose.
✔️ Early therapy, love and support make all the difference.

Today, we celebrate the children, caregivers, therapists and friends who keep pushing boundaries and proving that disability does not mean inability💪🏾

Together, we are Unique & United in the mission to create a world where every child has the chance to thrive.

💙 Honoring Eric, Our Oldest Malaika 💙

As we close Mental Health Month, we pause to honor Eric; our oldest Malaika, who rested at 24½ years.

Eric’s journey began after meningitis left him physically challenged, blind, deaf and unable to speak. Yet for over two decades, he fought bravely, teaching us all about resilience, patience and love without words.

We salute his incredible mum, a caregiver who has walked this journey with courage amidst caregiving challenges and life’s daily struggles. Her strength is a reflection of the countless unsung heroes who carry both love and burden every single day.

At Malaika Initiative, we are proud to have walked with Eric since 2012, even before our daycare officially opened. His life will always be a reminder of why we exist; to empower children, support caregivers and create dignity in the hardest of journeys.

We salute you Mama Eric. And may Eric continue watching over you with the same unconditional love you gave him. 💙

🌟 Our Story Begins 🌟

As we count down to 10 years of Malaika this December, we’re sharing the journey that started it all 💙

This is Mama Malaika’s Story; how one grandmother’s love for her granddaughter living with the effects of Meningitis and a stroke gave birth to a safe space for children with cerebral palsy and their caregivers.

Every great movement has a beginning.
For Malaika Initiative, that beginning was a grandmother’s heart❤️

Mukami Grace Njuguna aka Mama Malaika has walked this journey of love, resilience and faith for nearly a decade. What started as her lived experience raising a granddaughter affected by meningitis has now blossomed into a community of hope for children with cerebral palsy, meningitis and their caregivers.

This September, as we count down to Malaika’s 10th Anniversary in December, we begin our storytelling journey with Mama Malaika; the inspiration, the foundation and the unwavering heartbeat of Malaika.

💙 Stay tuned. The stories are powerful. The lessons, timeless. And the love? Unstoppable.

🌸 Small Steps, Big Impact 🌸

At Malaika Initiative, we believe that every caregiver deserves not just to survive but to thrive.

Through our tailoring training, caregivers are already reaping the rewards of their hard work 💯. Look at these beautiful handmade bags 👛 a symbol of resilience, creativity and hope.

For many of our families raising children with cerebral palsy, opportunities like this mean so much more than income. They mean dignity, confidence and a chance to dream again.

✨ All it takes is a little chance, a skill to nurture and the courage to take small steps toward a brighter tomorrow.

We are so proud of our Malaika caregivers, true heroes shaping a better future for their children and families.

Can Cerebral Palsy Be Prevented?

While not all cases of cerebral palsy can be prevented, some steps can lower the risk:

--Regular prenatal care for early detection of complications

--Managing maternal infections promptly

--Ensuring safe delivery to avoid birth trauma

--Early treatment of newborn jaundice and infections

Building awareness means giving every child a stronger start in life. 💚

🩵 Let’s talk. Let’s learn. Let’s change the narrative.
