If the president fails to sign a bill into law, the following process typically occurs:
1. Constitutional timeframe: The president has 14 days to either assent to (sign) or refer the bill back to Parliament with reasons for refusal.
2. If no action is taken: If the president neither signs nor refers the bill back within 14 days, the bill automatically becomes law without the president's signature.
3. Presidential referral: If the president refers the bill back to Parliament, they must provide reasons for the refusal to sign.
4. Parliamentary reconsideration: Parliament can then reconsider the bill, taking into account the president's reservations.
5. Parliamentary override: If Parliament passes the bill again, with or without amendments, by a two-thirds majority, the president must sign it within 7 days.
6. Automatic enactment: If the president fails to sign within those 7 days after the parliamentary override, the bill automatically becomes law without the president's signature.
