FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hello, my name is Sidhe Robert,CEO of Hawi Global Foundation—HGF. I am a Mandela Washington Fellow and a Presidential Precinct Fellow.

What we are building is not just a clinic—it is a completely new model of healthcare.

At HGF, through our in-house facility, St. Aoko Medical Centre, we are introducing a first-of-its-kind system where patients are not just recipients of care—they are owners of the system itself.

Here is what makes us different:

In our model, patients contribute into the system, and instead of profits going to external owners, those profits are reinvested back to the patients. This means the same system that treats you is the one helping pay for your health insurance, covering your premiums, and even generating dividends for you.

Beyond that, patients are able to invest these benefits through our platform, TibaFaida—turning healthcare from a cost burden into a financial empowerment tool.

This is a shift from “paying for healthcare” to “owning your healthcare.”

Right now, we are at a critical stage of implementing this system.

Our facility has already undergone inspection, and we paid for our license on March 20th. However, the license has not yet been issued. This delay means insurance companies cannot accredit us, and without that, full system integration is stalled.

To continue serving the community, we are currently offering discounted care packages, but this has come at a cost. Every month, my brother and I are contributing about 300,000 Kenyan shillings—approximately 2,000 US dollars—from our own pockets just to sustain operations. This is a heavy burden, but we remain committed.

The good news is that we recently received our IRS tax-exempt determination. This opens the door for us to seek grants, partnerships, and donations to scale this model and make it sustainable.

To our community around Othoro—we are here for you. We encourage you to continue visiting St. Aoko Medical Centre for your care. And to partners and supporters—this is an opportunity to be part of a truly transformative healthcare model.

We are not just building a facility. We are building a system where healthcare works for the people—and belongs to the people.

Thank you.

DO YOU KNOW HOW ACETAMINOPHEN (TYLENOL,PARACETAMOL/PANADOL) DAMAGES YOUR LIVER.

When you take Acetaminophen (common brand is Tylenol), your body normally processes it safely.

A small portion is converted into a toxic compound called NAPQI. Under normal doses, your liver neutralizes it using glutathione, turning it into a non-toxic compound called cysteine and mercapturic acid conjugates, this compound is safely excreted.

The problem starts with high doses.
If someone takes around 7.5g–15g within 24 hours, glutathione gets depleted.
Now the liver can’t keep up → NAPQI accumulates → liver damage begins.

The good news is that we have an antidote called
N-acetylcysteine (NAC).

It works by replenishing glutathione, helping the body detoxify NAPQI.

Important for healthcare workers especially in rehab and long-term care

You find patients frequently request repeat doses of acetaminophen, this may seem harmless, but cumulative dosing is where danger lies

Always track total daily intake max should be~4g in adults, however this often lower in practice

Be cautious with combination drugs that contain hidden acetaminophen)

If overdose is suspected, this is a medical emergency. NAC should be given in a hospital setting using established protocols ,not casually or “just in case.”.

But if you can’t reach the hospital immediately give N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine because after all it is over the counter

Acetaminophen is safe when used correctly, but dangerous when overused.
Monitor doses. Educate patients. Protect the liver.

What if patients didn’t just receive care…

What if they owned part of the system?

At St. Aoko Medical Centre, we are introducing a model where:

✔ Patients own 30% through a cooperative (SACCO)
✔ Profits support their healthcare and insurance
✔ The system becomes sustainable from within

This is healthcare with dignity, ownership, and long-term impact.

This is the future we are building.

DO NOT RELY ON JUICE AS A HEALTHY SUBSTITUTE FOR FRUIT.

Let me unpack this in a real, practical way.

When you eat a whole fruit, you are not just eating sugar and vitamins. You are eating a complete system that includes:

-Natural sugars
-Fiber
-Water
-Micronutrients

The above components are designed to work together.

The FIBER is the key.

It forms a kind of “net” or the valve that slows down how quickly sugar leaves the gut and enters your bloodstream. So instead of a sudden spike, your body gets a slow, steady release of energy. You feel full, satisfied, and your insulin response stays controlled. This is very important for your long time health.

Now compare that to juice.

When you turn fruit into juice, you remove most of the fiber. What is left is mainly water and sugar.

So what will happen in this case?

The sugar will enter your bloodstream very fast.

Your body responds by releasing a large amount of insulin to control that spike. Over time, repeated spikes like this can:

-Promote fat storage
-Increase hunger shortly after
-Contribute to insulin resistance

This is why people can drink a full glass of juice and still feel hungry, however if they ate the same number of fruits whole, they would feel full.

There’s another issue: quantity.

To make one glass of orange juice, you might use 3–5 oranges.

Ask yourself:Would you sit and eat 5 oranges at once? Probably not some of you can,and it is not healthy.

But you can drink them in seconds.

That’s how easy it is to overconsume sugar without realizing it.

Then we have the VITAMINS, because this is where many people focus.

Yes, juice contains vitamins. But that’s not the full story.

-Some vitamins (like vitamin C and Vitamin B. start to reduce when exposed to air as light over time
-The longer the juice sits, the more this happens
-But even fresh juice still has less nutrients that while fruit.

So the problem is not that juice has “no vitamins.”

The real problem is that it changes it composition and how your body handles the sugar.

And lastly PACKAGED juice.

Most commercial juices are:

-Processed and pasteurized
-Sometimes made from concentrates
-Often higher in sugar density

These behave much closer to sugary drinks than to whole fruit, more of a soda.

So what should you do in real life?

-Eat whole fruits as your default
-If you take juice, take it fresh and in small amounts
Don’t use juice as your main way of consuming fruit

Because the whole fruit feeds your body in a balanced way.
Juice delivers sugar quickly without the natural control system.
