More than 2,000 locals will benefit from a free surgical and medical camp hosted by the County government through the office of the First lady in partnership with the Muslim Association of University of Nairobi.

First lady Habiba Galgalo who graced the occassion at Isiolo KMTC ground hailed the medics for their commitment and passion towards actualizing the exercise.

" The commitment goes beyond providing medical care; it is about touching lives, offering hope, and embodying the compassionate spirit of serving" said the first lady

" We have seen remarkable efforts from our volunteers and medical professionals. Their dedication and skill are the pillars upon which this camp stands, I am grateful to you doctors" she said.

The six day camp started on 18th and it's expected to end on 23rd of this month.

The week-long free medical camp aims to cater to the diverse health needs of Isiolo residents, covering both surgical and general medical services.

Atleast 12 doctors drawn from Nairobi hospital and County health facility are taking part in the event

Chief Officer Medical Services, Abdirahman Mohamed said atleast 30 people went through the successful surgical operation.

He said the medical camp provides free consultations, medications, and access to advanced medical equipment, catering to a spectrum of health issues.

He urged the locals to take advantage of this opportunity and prioritize their health by participating in the ongoing medical camp.

Present were Chief Oficer Public health Bisharo Hassan, sponsors, the management of ICTRH and KMTC Isiolo Campus.

The members drawn from PSM, Medical Services Department, GDU, Public Works, the Users represented by the ICTRH Chair and the Contractors team, were taken through progress of the project that commenced 5th August 2022.

Today, the County Department of Health received a consignment comprising of 658 Community Health Promoter's (CHP) kit from the National Government. The kit was officially launched by H.E The President William Ruto on Monday this week.

Today, the County Department of Health received a consignment comprising of 658 Community Health Promoter's (CHP) kit from the National Government. The kit was officially launched by H.E The President William Ruto on Monday this week. The ceremony was graced by H.E, The Deputy Governor/ CEC Health, Deputy Governor Lowasa James . It was also attended by County health leadership and health workers at Isiolo County Referral Hospital.

CHP plays a critical role in the provision of health services at household level, bridging the gap in access to basic health services, especially among the undeserved population in hard to reach locations.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Deputy Governor, thanked the president for the initiative, saying this will go a long way in strengthening community health services with expected return in improved key health indicators. He also thanked the Governor, H.E Abdi Guyo for his great leadership and effort in promoting access to health services among the communities in Isiolo.

Dr Lowasa reiterated the County commitment in improving community health services through embracing electronic Community Health information system (eCHIS) where CHPs will be issued with smartphone that will enable to to collect data at household level and offer basic health services right at the door steps of our communities.

The kit shall be distributed to all the CHPs in 50 Community Health Units in Isiolo County. The kit contains a first aid kit, medical supplies, reflector jacket, backpack, name tag, weighing scale, Digital Bp machine, glucometer, MUAC tapes among others.

A team from Safaricom Foundation visited ICRH today to access needs on area’s where the foundation and the county government of Isiolo can partner to improve on the facilities ability to offer better and more efficient services to our clients.This was a follow up of an earlier meeting held in Nairobi.
