This is weight loss resistance – and no, you're not imagining it.
Weight loss resistance happens when your body essentially puts up a "Do Not Disturb" sign despite your BEST efforts. And it's happening because:
🫠Your hormones are out of balance (cortisol, insulin, thyroid – I'm looking at you)
🫠You're chronically undereating (yes, eating TOO LITTLE can stall your metabolism)
🫠You're overtraining but underrecovering
🫠Your sleep is suffering (even if you think it's "fine")
🫠Underlying health issues need addressing
When one of my clients came to me, she was experiencing weight loss resistance and weight gain in areas she hadn't ever experienced before.
She already ate very healthily and had a consistent fitness routine, so I recommended we get her labs done to see what may be going on underneath the surface.
Through this process, we started on her reverse diet (increasing food to maintenance calories) and focused on the basics:
heavy lifting, managing stress, getting MORE sleep, and eating high protein 💪🏼
When her labs came back, we were able to incorporate a few supplements to add to her already incredible adherence in her nutrition, lifestyle + training protocols.
