Ever felt like your body is straight-up FIGHTING against your weight loss efforts?

You're eating healthy, working out consistently, and yet... the scale won't budge 😩

This is weight loss resistance – and no, you're not imagining it.

Weight loss resistance happens when your body essentially puts up a "Do Not Disturb" sign despite your BEST efforts. And it's happening because:

🫠Your hormones are out of balance (cortisol, insulin, thyroid – I'm looking at you)
🫠You're chronically undereating (yes, eating TOO LITTLE can stall your metabolism)
🫠You're overtraining but underrecovering
🫠Your sleep is suffering (even if you think it's "fine")
🫠Underlying health issues need addressing

When one of my clients came to me, she was experiencing weight loss resistance and weight gain in areas she hadn't ever experienced before.

She already ate very healthily and had a consistent fitness routine, so I recommended we get her labs done to see what may be going on underneath the surface.

Through this process, we started on her reverse diet (increasing food to maintenance calories) and focused on the basics:

heavy lifting, managing stress, getting MORE sleep, and eating high protein 💪🏼

When her labs came back, we were able to incorporate a few supplements to add to her already incredible adherence in her nutrition, lifestyle + training protocols.

Weight loss resistance isn't about willpower or "trying harder" - it's about getting SMARTER about your approach.

When this client came to me, she had been dealing with weight loss resistance for years.

She went to her doctors, had labwork done, and she was always told to just 'eat less and move more'

While I don't completely DISAGREE with this advice, we should know by now that it's not always that simple.

After getting Molly's bloodwork done, we realized that she was dealing with insulin resistance. And, if you haven't heard me talk about it yet - losing weight with insulin resistance can be an uphill battle since insulin resistance decreases your BMR (basal metabolic rate) or, in to put in plainly — SLOWS DOWN YOUR METABOLISM.

Meaning she has to eat LESS than what she'd find if she were to go to some random online maco calculator.

On top of that, she'd been feeling (for years) like she was going to randomly pass out at various times throughout the day. We were able to link that to her blood sugar regulation and improve her eating patterns so she could avoid feeling this way!

While navigating the insulin resistance & prior disordered eating patterns, eating LESS is not always easy. So we are taking things slow & steady.

Molly has made incredbile improvements in the last few months, and I could not be more proud of her consistency and committment to the process.

QUIZ: Is it time for you to slow down?

you’ve been seeing a lot recently about people that are stressed and over-tired with adrenal issues.

no energy, weight loss resistance galore — and you know that the key to healing (for them) is to slow down. Take a step back from training all the time, sleep more, and focus on stress-management (& a few supplements here & there that might help)

maybe you feel stressed and over-tired, having a difficult time losing weight, and you’re thinking....maybe I should just be doing LESS?

there are a few ways we can figure out if this is you ^^

first, we can get your labs done (bloodwork, a 4-point cortisol test, or a DUTCH test depending on what we’re looking at specifically and budget)

if you are not able to / don’t want to get labs done — here is a short quiz:

◼️how much have you slept per night on average in the last 6 months? If it’s less than 7 hours, you get +1.

◼️how much are you training/have you trained in the last 6 months? if it’s 5+ x per week, +1.

◼️out of those workouts, were most or all of them HIIT workouts? if yes, +1.

◼️Have you been eating in a calorie deficit for 4+ months? if yes, +1.

◼️do you have a stressful job/home life situation? if yes, +1.

okay, add up your points. If you have 3 or more, it’s PROBABLY time to slow down a little bit and give your body some rest.

If you don’t meet 2 or less of these criteria, you can most likely afford to ramp it up a notch.

Remember, your body is always trying to tell you something.

Example: you should feel BETTER after a workout, not worse. If you feel more tired, puffy, lethargic after a workout, you probably went too hard.

the one thing a coach NEVER wants to admit 🫣

But after 2.5 years of coaching women and 10+ years on my own nutrition + fitness journey, there’s are some common themes I’ve noticed that will TRULY create change (especially when paired with a coach who can guide you every step of the way)

It doesn’t have to be complicated, but no one said it was easy. If it were - everyone would be walking around in optimal health.

The unfortunate reality is that less than 12% of the population is metabolically healthy.

If you want to be part of that 12%, you are going to have to make a few sacrifices and WORK for it 👏🏼

Save for a step-by-step plan for the next 6 months 👀

I used to be so strict with my my diet and exercise in the weeks leading up to swimsuit season, and I was always trying to eat a little as possible in the summer😭

What I didn’t have back then was knowledge of HOW my body worked - and a PLAN.

I needed muscle to improve my metabolism. Happy hormones. And less restriction all-together in order to actually stay consistent with my goals.

You shouldn’t be dieting all year round. If you are, I hope this sample plan helps you out a bit 💪🏼

One of my clients sent this note on her check-in and I wanted to share it with you.

She said “I know I like to drag my feet and over analyze getting into things like this but I’m so glad I finally did it. I feel better than I have in literal years. ❤️”

This client had ‘fallen through the cracks’ in the medical system, so to speak.

She was feeling exhausted on the daily and losing her hair, and she couldn’t figure out why. She started doing her own research and decided she needed to go see a doctor.

When she went, that doctor told her she most likely had PCOS, and recommended birth control. She received no guidance on how to heal her insulin resistance or how to go about managing the symptoms she had been experiencing.

Now, she’s feeling better than she has in ‘literal years’ after only 2 months of working together.

In this short time we’ve:

👉🏼 gotten her labs done
👉🏼 given her a specific nutrition & supplement protocol to start improving symptoms
👉🏼gotten her strength training multiple times a week
👉🏼focused on foundational habits like sleep, water, and managing stress

& we’re only just getting started 😉

44lbs down total 🤯

I’ve been working with Michelle on and off for about 2 years - initially we were just working on consistency in the gym and with her nutrition.

She crushed her goals and lost over 40lbs 🤯

She then got pregnant, stayed active & healthy throughout her pregnancy, then delivered a beautiful, healthy baby boy and came back to work with me in the postpartum phase 💪🏼

This time was different, though. More challenging circumstances for Michelle (2 kids as opposed to 1, AND her hubby is on deployment so she’s been doing everything on her own the last several months)

Despite the more challenging circumstances, she continues to show up for herself every day and is crushing her postpartum goals too 🤩

So proud of you, Michelle! Can’t wait to see what you do in the next few months 💪🏼
