💙 MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS 💙

Too often, society teaches men to “tough it out,” to stay silent, to hold it all in. But the truth is: men need love. Men need care. Men need healing.👌

This is a powerful time to break the stigma and remind the men in our lives that it’s okay to ask for help, to rest, to be vulnerable.👌

This image is a reminder that:👌

✅ Men need affection
✅ Men need self-care
✅ Men need support
✅ Men need to be told they matter
✅ Men need safety to feel, to cry, to be held
✅ Men need meaningful connections, brotherhood, and tenderness

If you’re a man reading this, your emotions are valid. Your needs are real. You deserve the same compassion you give others.👌

If you love a man — a partner, friend, brother, father check in. Ask how he’s really doing. Let him know it’s okay to not be okay.👌

Let’s create space for healing, for expression, for real strength the kind that comes from being your full, authentic self.👌

🖤 Let’s normalize support, not silence.

The scope of the impacts between Gender Based Violence and Mental Health is large, given the reality that gender-based violence is so prevalent.Forty-four percent of all women in Kenya have at least experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since the age of 15.
The link between violence and mental health concerns is much higher for women.

Critical supports need to be strengthened for abuse survivors experiencing mental health concerns, both to prevent and address violence. This includes access to long-term counselling, childcare supports, better legal assistance, and employment opportunities.

As Hands Of Hope Initiative we have been Creating awareness and Sensitizing of the ways that both violence and mental health concerns affect the people close to us. Being there as a non-judgmental community supporter, listening, and offering to help find resources are all good ways to break the stigma and the isolation that survivors often feel,Also Capacity build individuals to learn how they can respond to any sign or signal of abuse by becoming a Signal for Help Responder today.

We Challenge ideas and jokes that justify abuse or shame people dealing with Mental Health Issues and efforts of our communities to be aware of gender-based violence and its ripple effect on mental health concerns, and to be supportive of those experiencing both.

Hands of Hope Initiative Joined Kilifi organizations,Human Rights Defenders, CSOs, and community members for a peaceful march against femicide. Our commitment,as Hands of Hope Initiative is to raise awareness against gender-based violence and other retrogressive cultural practices.

GBV impacts every aspect of an individual’s life, including their mental health.Women who experience violence are 3-5 times more likely to be diagnosed with PTSD, depression, experience suicidal ideation, and problems with substance use.

When women experience violent trauma, their mental health is in serious jeopardy. It not only affects their present and their future but also impacts the future of their families and loved ones.

If you have experienced Gender-Based Violence, know that you are not alone. And it is not your fault.

Hands Of Hope Initiative Offers information on different mental illnesses, treatment options, and ways to support yourself and others.

In Kenya, a disturbing surge in femicide is evident, women are falling victim to brutal murders. Shockingly, some of their lifeless bodies are discovered discarded in trash cans, severed from their heads. The blatant disregard for the value of women's lives is truly heart-wrenching.

What has our world devolved into? This is a plea, a cry to humanity:
STOP KILLING WOMEN!!!
SAY NO TO FEMICIDE!

People at risk for depression may benefit from more social support. New research used All of Us data to look at 3 types of social support, finding the more types of social support a participant had, the lower their risk of depression, with some providing more benefits than others..
