Not understanding what is happening to you or what you're actually agreeing to can make you feel very vulnerable and helpless. This will have a massive negative impact on how you feel about the birth after, which in turn can cause huge difficulties at the start of your motherhood journey, and may
even affect you for years after.

Feeling in control of the situation, with the knowledge of what is going on, knowing your wishes are being respected and listened to really does help to create a positive birth experience. But that means planning for birth like you would for any other momentous occasion in your life.

'Going with the flow' is such a common attitude when it comes to birthing your baby. So many pregnant women think that because birth is so unpredictable, there is no point planning for it. Birth preparation isn't even on their 'to-do' list, let alone the idea of hypnobirthing.

Hypnobirthing always works. Why do I know that? Because contrary to what you might hear, hypnobirthing is not a method, it is a process. So, you literally can’t ‘get it wrong’ and it can’t ‘go out the window’.

It’s something you go through that will help you prepare for birth in the best way possible. It isn't a certain outcome or type of birth.

You’d think that we could just let our body do its thing during labour. After all, giving birth is just another bodily function that should be able to unfold without us doing much about it.

And in actual fact, birth IS like that for every other mammal.

But the thing is, we have something that other mammals don’t – and that’s our logical thinking brain. And it’s this part of the brain that really messes up birth if we let it.

If we didn’t grow up hearing all these crappy stories about birth and seeing it depicted as this awful chaotic and excruciatingly painful experience you have to endure, we probably wouldn’t have to do this work to understand how to work with our body. But for the vast majority of us, our default response to birth will actually mess it up. So that's why we need to do the work in pregnancy to basically 'undo' all we know about birth.

WTF is hypnobirthing? What a common question!! The name doesn't do it much justice to be fair, but the way I explain it, is that it's a science-backed and evidence-based way to prepare for the birth of your baby! Not only does it help you find out what your choices and options are but it also helps you change the way you feel about birth And when you change the way you feel, you change what's possible for you! Hypnobirthing gets it name from the fact that, as well as being a full antenatal education, it includes the power of hypnosis to prepare for giving birth...
..and before you roll your pretty 👀at the mention of hypnosis, all that really means is using words to help you reach a place of extreme relaxation... sounds nice right?!

The use of hypnosis as a form of pain relief (analgesia) has been around for huuuuundreds of years before it then made its way into the birth world - makes sense seeing as birth is notorious for supposedly being the most painful experience evverrr (spoiler alert - it does NOT have to be like that!).

Countless studies have shown that using hypnosis during childbirth can reduce the pain felt, shorten labour time and minimise the need for analgesic drugs and epidurals!!

It's even reported that someone successfully used the power of hypnosis as the only pain relief for a caesarean birth!!!

Seriously a no brainer to give it a go, what have you got to lose?!

Birth can and should be planned for. But you need to be planning for more than one type of birth. This means you'll feel prepared, whatever happens.

Isn't it strange that the first place we think of when giving birth is a hospital? Hospitals are for sick people and when things are wrong with us yet it's where most of us go to have our baby. Birth is a natural process that works best when it isn't meddled with. It's important you prepare for birth during pregnancy so you know how to make birth work.
