The 2nd National Cancer Summit is a powerful reminder that cancer is not just a health issue. It is a call to action for access, equity, and investment. Every Kenyan deserves timely diagnosis, quality treatment, and hope for recovery. We must push for stronger systems, bold leadership, and community-driven solutions that leave no one behind. This is how we change the cancer narrative for good.

Millicent Akinyi is battling a brain tumor. Her employer paid her full SHA premium, but she’s been denied surgery because her tumor is “too small.” Yes, SHA demands it grows to 3cm before it qualifies for cover. The same system preaching early detection saves lives now forces her to wait until it’s worse. This is not just irony, it’s cruelty. We cannot normalize policies that punish patients for seeking help early. We must raise our voices! deserves care, not red tape. Let’s fight for a health system that responds with compassion, not conditions.

This JUMP is a movement! 💃🏾💥
We’re leaping into June with strength and purpose, spreading awareness about uterine cancer. Too many women suffer in silence; this is our symbolic leap to break that silence. Early screening saves lives, and education empowers action.
Let’s get loud, let’s get visible, and let’s take this fight head-on. Whether you jump, post, or speak—do it for Her Reason For Being.

Because uterine cancer doesn’t get the attention it deserves.

We at Being Africa joined the Challenge by the IGCS.org, but we didn’t do it quietly.

We jumped in Nairobi’s busiest street, surrounded by traffic, commuters, and vendors.
Why? To disrupt. To provoke. To start a conversation about a cancer that’s often overlooked, and often diagnosed too late.

Uterine cancer affects millions of women globally. Yet in Africa, it's still not part of mainstream health discussions.
It's time to change that. 🛑

We jumped:
✅ For the women battling this disease silently
✅ For stronger health systems
✅ For early detection
✅ For prevention, policy, and a healthier future for all

📸 Our photo shows us mid-air. But it’s more than a jump, it’s a statement. A commitment.

Because staying still is not an option when lives are at stake.

🗣️ Join us. Talk about it. Demand action. Jump—literally or figuratively—for women’s health.

It’s not every day that you see people leaping into the air in the middle of Nairobi’s bustling central business district. Matatus honk, vendors hustle, and office workers flow like a river on a mission.

🎗️ June is Uterine Cancer Awareness Month!
Are you aware of the risk factors? Your personal, reproductive, and family history could increase your chances. Obesity, aging, PCOS, irregular periods, hormone therapy, and family history of uterine or colorectal cancer are major risks. Early detection saves lives!
Let’s break the silence and empower women with knowledge. Talk to your doctor.
Let’s raise awareness together and take control of our health. 💪🏾
Because every woman matters. 💜

Did you know uterine cancer cases are rising in Africa, yet awareness, screening, and access to treatment remain limited?

While it accounts for 50% of gynecologic cancers in high-income countries, African women face added challenges like late diagnosis and low awareness. This Uterine Cancer Awareness Month, we must amplify education, push for early detection, and advocate for equitable access to care across the continent. No woman should be left behind because of where she lives. Knowledge saves lives, let’s spread it.

🌍 June is Uterine Cancer Awareness Month, but in Africa, the silence is deafening. Uterine cancer is rising—yet it's underdiagnosed, underreported, and underfunded.

At Being Africa, we’re calling for urgent action.

This isn’t just about one cancer. It’s about how we treat women’s health and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) across the continent.

🧠 We need more data.
🏥 Better screening and care.
📣 Stronger policies that center African women.

We just published a piece on what policymakers, researchers, civil society, and innovators must do to turn awareness into action. It’s time to connect the dots.
