Leading the charge against schistosomiasis, the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) today hosted Merck, the National Public Health Institute (NPHI), InSupply and DP World to advance collaboration on ensuring equitable access to Praziquantel (PZQ) across Kenya.
Ms. Esther Somoire, Deputy Director Partnerships and Linkages, represented Dr. Waqo Ejersa, Chief Executive Officer KEMSA. She emphasized KEMSA’s drive to strengthen partnerships that expand access to life-saving medicines and deliver lasting impact in disease control.
The discussions focused on strengthening supply chain systems to sustain continuous treatment.
KEMSA will lead joint forecasting with the Ministry of Health’s Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Program, counties and partners to integrate Mass Drug Administration (MDA) data with iLMIS consumption trends.
To enhance reliability, KEMSA will establish a national buffer stock, align last-mile distribution with facility restocking in high-burden areas and introduce a real-time PZQ dashboard for transparent stock tracking.
Through innovation, partnership and data-driven planning, KEMSA continues to redefine equitable access, ensuring that life-saving medicines reach every health facility across the country.
