• Deep Tissue Massage – targets deeper muscle layers to release chronic tension.

• Myofascial Release – works on connective tissue (fascia) to reduce restriction.

Physiotherapy, medical acupuncture, and dry needling are often combined because they target different aspects of pain and dysfunction—muscles, nerves, joints, and the brain’s pain processing. When used together, they can speed recovery and reduce pain more effectively than using only one technique.

Each approach treats a different layer of the problem. Combined they can be an effective tool that provides maximum healing and recovery.

1. Physiotherapy: The Foundation

Physiotherapy focuses on restoring movement, strength, and function through:
• Exercise therapy
• Joint mobilization or manipulation
• Stretching
• Postural correction
• Education and movement retraining

What it targets
• Weak or tight muscles
• Joint stiffness
• Poor movement patterns
• Injuries and rehabilitation

Physiotherapy addresses the root mechanical problem, not just symptoms.

2. Medical Acupuncture: Nervous System Modulation

Medical acupuncture is a modern medical adaptation of acupuncture performed by trained healthcare professionals.

How it works

Thin needles are inserted into specific points to stimulate nerves and trigger biological responses:
• Release of natural painkillers (endorphins)
• Reduced inflammation
• Improved blood circulation
• Relaxation of muscles

What it targets
• Chronic pain
• Muscle tension
• nerve sensitivity
• systemic pain conditions

Unlike traditional acupuncture, medical acupuncture is usually based on neurophysiology and anatomy rather than traditional Chinese medicine meridians.

3. Dry Needling: Trigger Point Treatment

Dry needling is a technique specifically aimed at myofascial trigger points (tight knots in muscles).

How it works

A thin needle is inserted directly into a tight muscle band or trigger point.

This causes:
• A local twitch response
• Relaxation of the muscle
• Improved blood flow
• Reduced nerve irritation

What it targets
• Muscle knots
• localized pain
• referred pain patterns
• muscle spasms

February 11 is observed globally as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Its importance lies in highlighting the vital role women play in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and in addressing the inequalities they continue to face in these fields.

This day is important because it:
• Recognizes women’s contributions to scientific discovery, innovation, and research, which have often been overlooked or underrepresented.
• Promotes gender equality by drawing attention to barriers such as limited access to education, stereotypes, and lack of opportunities for women and girls in STEM careers.
• Encourages girls’ participation in science by providing role models and inspiring confidence to pursue scientific education and professions.
• Supports sustainable development, as inclusive science leads to better solutions for global challenges like health, climate change, and technology advancement.

Overall, February 11 emphasizes that empowering women and girls in science is not only a matter of equality, but also essential for progress, innovation, and a better future for all.
