Times Higher Education World University Rankings

🎓Milestone for Austrian higher education: for the first time ever, the University of vienna has entered the global Top 100!

In this year's Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Austria's oldest and largest university reached 95th place, marking a historic milestone and underlining the country's strong academic performance.

But that's not all: five Austrian universities now rank among the world's Top 300, Medizinische Universität Wien also moving up significantly.

The ranking by Britain's renowned Times Higher Education magazine compared more than 2,000 institutions worldwide - from teaching quality to research impact and international outlook.

The Austrian stand featured leading companies and organizations showcasing innovative technologies for agriculture:

🚋🥇 Австрия завоевала золото на первых в мире трамвайных чемпионатах в Вене! 🥇🚋

Это не шутка и не пиар-акция венской транспортной компании — международные соревнования среди водителей трамваев действительно существуют. Европейский чемпионат проводится ежегодно с 2012 года.
В этом году, в Вене впервые состоялся чемпионат мира по управлению трамваями: 25 команд с 6 континентов соревновались. Участники соревновались в 8 дисциплинах — от точного торможения и до «трамвайного боулинга».
Тысячи зрителей собрались на Венском Ринге и с энтузиазмом поддерживали участников.
Это событие стало символом единства, радости и любви к общественному транспорту.

📊 Глобальный индекс инноваций 2025: Австрия в числе самых инновационных стран мира.

Австрия на протяжении многих лет входит в число 20 самых инновационных стран мира. Высокие показатели демонстрируются , в частности, в области научных исследований и разработок, патентной активности и развития инфраструктуры.

Глобальный индекс инноваций ежегодно публикуется Всемирной организацией интеллектуальной собственности (World Intellectual Property Organization) совместно с бизнес-школой INSEAD и Корнельским университетом (Cornell University).

В 2025 году Китай впервые вошел в топ-10, а Норвегия — в топ-20.

Hey, I’m Gabriel, and over the past few months I worked as an intern with Advantage Austria in Almaty.

During my internship, I also managed to visit Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan – each with its own culture, history, and unique atmosphere.
At work, the highlight was helping to organize the Mining & Metals Central Asia 2025 trade fair in Almaty. It gave me the chance to meet many companies and people from across the region and to see first-hand how Austria and Central Asia are strengthening their business ties.
Outside of work, I tried to explore as much as possible. From Kazakhstan’s mountains (including a hike up to 3,600m in Shymbulak) to Uzbekistan’s Silk Road cities and Tajikistan’s capital – every trip was special in its own way. As a football fan, being at the stadium and watching FC Kairat Almaty fight through all the qualifiers and finally secure a spot in the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history was an unforgettable moment.
Another highlight was spending a night in a yurt in Altyn-Emel National Park. Experiencing the beauty of Kazakhstan’s nature – the mountains, lakes, and wide landscapes – made it a truly memorable trip.
And of course, the food in Central Asia: I really came to love dishes like plov, shashlik, beshbarmak in Kazakhstan, and kurutob in Tajikistan.
Looking back, I’m very thankful for the time I had here, the people I met, and the memories I’m taking home. Central Asia left a big impression on me – and I know this won’t be my last time here.
