Let's face it - we are living in a time where the biggest health issues such as obesity, cardio vascular disease, coronary heart disease, and type 2 diabetes, are largely influenced by our lifestyle. Unfortunately, it is estimated that (on average) our generation will die earlier than our parents, and our children will die even earlier than us. But, people can give advice about nutrition, health a
nd fitness until they are blue in the face - the fact is making lifestyle changes is HARD. Our habits and behaviours are engrained deeply within us, and for many of us certain foods are an addiction. There are also many other factors that influence our behaviour such as: income, education, childhood experiences, psychology, geographic location, public policies, the way the food system is organized - to name a few. One can't get over an addiction or change an engrained behaviour by someone simply telling them that it is a detrimental behaviour and telling them the "right" thing to do. However, making positive lifestyle changes CAN be done with knowledge, support, determination and motivation. Unhealthy habits can be replaced with healthy habits. It will take time, there will be setbacks (success doesn't come without failure), but it IS worth it in the end. I hope to inspire, support and encourage others to make health a priority, and to reach their goals.
