The use of percutaneous pedicle screw fixation in traumatic thoraco-lumbar vertebral fractures offers several advantages, such as less blood loss, less postoperative pain due to blunt separation of the muscles and a very fast recovery. It avoids the traditional large incision and muscle dissection. Instead, screws and rods are inserted through a few very small incisions.
