The World Bank has a mission to assist countries to provide accessible, affordable and quality care by 2030. One of the important activities to have a successful mission is to work with the Ministry of Health of countries, to develop and endorse the draft National Health Compact document.
The NH Compact will define priority reforms, investments and partnerships, including specific targets, action plans and forecasted investments.
The NH Compact is more than a health policy. It is National Commitment. It pushes for shared responsibility amongst the Government, Public and Private sectors, Civil Society Organizations, Regional and International partners. It is a nation building exercise focusing on attaining a resilient, accessible, affordable health care system for Saint Lucia.
Various stakeholders met to review and provide feedback on the NH Compact, on November 17 and 18, 2025 at the Beljou Hotel. The stakeholder groups included Finance Teams of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance, Regional agencies (OECS,PAHO, CARPHA), Clinical teams (Primary Health Care and Hospital), Multi-Government agencies, Senior Human Resource Officers and Health Information Systems teams from various levels of Health Care.
