Join hands to welcome Our Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Gurumurthy !
Dr. Gurumurthy is an esteemed alumnus of one of India's top medical institutions, Bangalore Medical College. He holds Board Certification to practice in India and has contributed to the academic community through various publications. His teaching career began in Saint Lucia three decades ago, following his tenure at a medical college in India and a year of specialized training in Dermatology at Bangalore Medical College.
Over his 30 years in Saint Lucia, he has earned a reputation as a dedicated and respected academic and administrator, demonstrating unwavering loyalty to both the institution and its students. His extensive expertise in his field has significantly enhanced student performance over the past 30 years.
In 1994, Dr. Gurumurthy took on administrative responsibilities and has since excelled, reaching the position of Executive Dean for over ten years. However, management changes in 2022 led him to step away from Spartan in 2024 after successfully navigating a challenging transition period due to misalignment in vision and goals.
Dr. Gurumurthy played a crucial role in securing accreditation from the St. Lucia Monitoring Committee in 2004, obtaining NCFMEA approval in 2007, and facilitating the New York State Accreditation process, as well as achieving CAAM-HP Provisional Accreditation status from 2013 to 2019.
In summary, Dr. Gurumurthy is a tremendous asset to the University, and there are high expectations for continued progress under his guidance. To further his legacy of academic and administrative excellence, he has joined THSU, aiming to establish a robust foundation in medical education and health sectors for the advancement of Saint Lucia, the region, and beyond.
