👁️🌧️ Dark circles are very common and have always been a challenge to treat. They can occur due to various reasons, so let’s take a look at them:
👉🏼“Skin”: When the skin is thin, the blood vessels and muscles underneath it become visible. Decreased skin thickness due to aging, constant rubbing, inflammation from allergies, UV exposure, or genetic factors can lead to this issue.
👉🏼“Soft tissue underneath”: A lack of subcutaneous fat allows the blood vessels and muscles underneath to be easily visible, for the same reason as thin skin. At this level, the presence of more fluids and blood vessels can lead to the breakdown of blood cells, leaving a pigment stain in the under-eye area. Fluid retention can occur during allergies and the aging process (due to reduced drainage from loss of ligament support).
👉🏼“Ligaments and bones” form the structural framework of the facial structure. As we age, bone resorption occurs, leading to orbital rim recession. The ligament also loses its support of the fat compartment and muscle over time, leading to eye bags, loss of volume, poor fluid drainage, and permanent lines. Together, these factors contribute to the appearance of dark circles.
❤️Therefore, it is more than important to identify the underlying cause of dark circles to determine the most appropriate treatment for each patient. The causes of dark circles can vary, with some individuals having one underlying issue and others having a combination of factors. At Mediva Clinic, we offer filler injections, collagen boosters, and other regenerative treatments designed to address the specific issue under the eyes and provide the desired results for our clients. We offer free consultations before any treatment to ensure that our clients receive the most suitable solution for their needs.
