“I refused induction at 39 weeks…”
And honestly… that wasn’t an easy decision.
At 39 weeks, I was offered induction.
But deep down, something didn’t feel right for me.
There was no gestational diabetes.
No preeclampsia.
No medical emergency that required my baby to come out immediately.
So instead of saying yes out of fear…I paused.
I read.
I tried to understand what induction of labour actually means for the body.
And what I learnt changed everything.
Induction can be necessary, and in many cases, it saves lives.
But it can also lead to stronger contractions, more interventions,
and sometimes even emergency C-sections… especially when the body isn’t ready.
And I realised… I had a choice.
So I chose to wait.
No artificial induction.
No rushing my body.
No manual rupturing to speed things up.
Just trust, preparation, and patience.
At 39 weeks + 6 days…
my body went into labour on its own.
And at 40 weeks — I gave birth.
This is not about doing what I did.
This is about knowing that you can ask questions.
That you deserve to understand your options during pregnancy and labour.
That informed birth decisions matter.
Because birth is not just a medical process…
it’s something you carry with you forever.
