SUNFO(Sri Lanka-United Nations Friendship Organisation) was formed on 22nd May,1999 (National Heroes Day in Sri Lanka) by signing the inaugural declaration of SUNFO in Colombo-Sri Lanka by founder members of SUNFO with the patronage of the Speaker of Parliament of Sri Lanka and with the blessings of Mr. Since then thousands of people joined SUNFO in all parts of the country as well as overseas as members and supporters who love mission of SUNFO that is building a non-political, non-racial and non-sectarian peoples moment that seeks to work for the well-being, harmony and Peace of mankind according to the principles of United Nations. During the last six years of its humble journey, SUNFO expanded its services island-wide by forming SUNFO branches in provincial level and also by establishing SUNFO Cooperative Alliances in some other countries of the world. SUNFO Southern Province Child Development Center - Karandeniya, SUNFO Center for the Development of Full Human Potential, SUNFO Legal Aid and Human Development Center - Welikada Prison, SUNFO Peace Dagaba - Madurawela, SUNFO World Youth Congress, SUNFO World Women & Children's Congress are some of the institutions created by SUNFO. Some of the remarkable service activities initiated by SUNFO are World's first Human Rights Marathon, Striving For Excellence programme, SUNFO Global Village for Peace, Culture and Friendship, SUNFO Medical Camps for poor and needy, SUNFO School Clubs for Humanity, North-South Friendship Journey, Celebration of UN Observances and Workshops for Peace and Global Understanding Project.
