Overall Objective
To contribute to a prosperous future in Sri Lanka, by developing the food manufacturing sector of the country by adding value to the local agriculture base while capitalizing opportunities to uplift the nation at local level as well as making Sri Lanka a giant in the field of agri-food export.
Specific Objectives
Dissemination of novel food processing technologies and quality assurance aspects of food manufacturing
Establishment of state owned food manufacturing facilities nearby Dedicated Economic Centers
Create job opportunities
Promoting entrepreneurship and providing required guidelines, ideas and follow-up actions
Reduce wastages of agricultural commodities during peak harvesting and value addition
Reduce the import of raw materials and finished products (in relation to food and beverage)
Enhance the food availability throughout the country at an affordable price
Development of domestic and export market for locally value added food and beverage products
Approach international markets and increase foreign exchange inflow
