Residents of River Gee cries for urgent Magisterial Court renovation
Residents of Toubo district in River Gee County are calling for urgent renovation of the Magisterial Court the area.
According to a concern Citizen from the district, the only Magisterial Court in the area was poorly constructed with wood and mud locally and now in a deteriorating condition.
The court is the only Judiciary body in the area to dispatch justice and settle disputes legally and through Mediation as well.
The Magisterial Court building in Toubo District, River Gee County, is in serious need of renovation, as the current structure does not reflect the standard expected of modern day judicial facility in Liberia.
Toubo District is considered one of the largest districts in its electoral area in River Gee County and continues to face significant challenges in accessing basic justice services.
In addition to the deteriorating condition of the court building, the district currently lacks a police station.
Speaking to residents on March 10, 2026, some say this situation is making it extremely difficult to report crimes and obtain timely legal assistance, especially during emergencies.
Community members and local leaders are therefore calling on relevant government authorities and justice sector institutions to urgently intervene and address the situation in order to improve access to justice for citizens of Toubo District.
Expressing the needs for better structure for the Magisterial Court, a resident quoted the saying that says,'' there should be justice for all'', but this is not the case of Toubo District as local don't report crimes nor take their issue to Court anymore based on the Court poor structure condition.
