On June 26โ€“27, Help a Mother and Newborn Initiative (HMNI) wrapped up the final recap session of our EmpowerHer Journey a heartfelt celebration of progress, purpose, and possibility for our young mothers and dedicated CHVs across nine health facilities in Margibi County.

Since April 2024, this journey has equipped first-time and young mothers with life-changing knowledge from pregnancy nutrition to newborn care, family planning, and beyond. Through interactive sessions, knowledge evaluations, inspiring testimonials, and joyful celebration, we reflected on the impact made and the path ahead.

Whatโ€™s next? Skills training. Startup funding. CHV recognition. And continued community empowerment. Because this is not the end itโ€™s a powerful new beginning. Together, weโ€™re building stronger, safer, and more hopeful futures one empowered mother at a time.

In Celebration of the Day of the African Child 2025

On Friday, June 20, 2025, Help a Mother and Newborn Initiative hosted an exciting Peer-to-Peer Clubs interactive event held across Kakata and Firestone in Lower and Upper Margibi County. This gathering brought together over 200 students and teachers from 8 partner schools-united by a shared commitment to health, education, and youth leadership.

The day featured lively quizzing competitions, debates, kickball matches, and traditional games, creating a safe space for young people to learn, express themselves, and grow as changemakers.

Through peer learning and friendly competition, students demonstrated how far theyโ€™ve come in understanding their rights and responsibilities, particularly in areas of health education, leadership, and community support.

As we mark this important day, we reaffirm our belief in the potential of every African child to lead, to thrive, and to shape a healthier, more just future.

Celebrating the Closing Ceremony of the SRHR Coaching Masterclass

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, Help a Mother and Newborn Initiative (HMNI) successfully concluded its SRHR Coaching Masterclass, certifying 23 dynamic young leaders as Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Coaches after an intensive 2 months Masterclass couple with field trip and project implementation.

Throughout the 2 months Masterclass, participants engaged in intensive training sessions, community outreach, and hands-on learning experiences. They emerged equipped with practical knowledge, advocacy tools, and the confidence to champion SRHR causes in their schools and communities.

The closing program was graced by our esteemed keynote speaker Mrs. Dwede Tarpeh, who reminded us that access to health services and rights should never be selective and that โ€œsilence protects the structure that keeps us where we are.โ€

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the SRHR Masterclass Participants for their dedication and commitment, and to our partners, facilitators, and coordinators whose unwavering support made this journey possible.

As these certified SRHR Coaches begin this new chapter, we echo the call to action from our guest speaker:
โ€œBe afraid of youth silence, but never be afraid of youth empowerment.โ€

Together, we continue to strive for a future where every young person can access the health services and information they need without fear, stigma, or silence.
