On March 16, 2026, LISS Initiative stood in solidarity with women of Liberia (Liberians) in a united call (campaign) to end Gender-Based Violence in solidarity with all survivors and victims as we marched to and had a sit-in at the Liberia National Police Headquarters presenting a position statement received by the IGP of Police IGP. Gregory O W Coleman.

We celebrate the strength of all those who have walked away from abusive relationships, amplify awareness on all forms of abuse, and continue to demand justice for every victim.

To every survivor: your voice matters, your story matters, and you deserve to be heard, supported, and protected. You are not alone, and you do not have to suffer in silence.

We call on state actors, institutions, communities, and every individual to take a stand against Gender-Based Violence, create safe and supportive spaces where survivors are protected, supported, and empowered to speak without fear.

This is a shared responsibility. Together, let us build a society where safety is guaranteed, voices are heard, and justice is served for all, because every voice matters and every life deserves dignity and safety.đź’ś

Silence has never protected anyone, speaking up has.
End the stigma. End the silence.

NO TO R**E Campaign đź’Ş

R**e and other forms of Sexual and Gender Based Violence do not only violate human rights but also leave deep psychological and emotional wounds that affect survivors, families, and communities.

At LISS Initiative, we believe that every person deserves to live in dignity, safety, and freedom from violence and commit to fostering mental wellbeing, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and safe spaces where survivors are heard, supported, and empowered.

Through the “No to R**e Campaign” we reaffirm our commitment to creating safe spaces, raising awareness, promoting prevention, supporting survivors, and advocating for justice in Liberia.

Ending r**e requires more than awareness, it requires action, empathy, and community responsibility, so this is more than a march, but a national call-to-action where we all are accountable for protecting, providing safe spaces, destigmatizing, and ensuring justice for survivors and victims.

Our hearts goes out to victims and survivors of SGBV and their families. We see you, we hear you, your pain and trauma are valid, healing is possible, it’s not your fault and it doesn’t define you❤️.

Together, we can build communities where healing, respect, and protection of women, men, boys and girls are prioritized.

Let us continue to break the silence and stand united in saying NO to r**e and YES to dignity, justice, and mental wellbeing for all.

We are proud to share that Liberia Safe Space (LISS) Initiative has successfully completed a 3-days Trauma Healing Dialogue Training (Safe Conversation Dialogue), organized by the Center for Dialogue Africa in partnership with the Foundation for Women.

This training strengthens our commitment to creating safe, inclusive spaces where individuals and communities can heal, engage in safe and meaningful dialogue, and build resilience.

The knowledge and skills gained will further equip LISS to promote mental wellness, safe conversations, trauma-informed care, and peaceful community engagement in line with our mission and vision.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the organizers for this impactful learning experience and for advancing trauma healing efforts across communities.

Together, we heal. Together, we build safe spaces. đź’™

Few weeks ago, Liberia Safe Space Initiative - LISS along with other human (women) rights organizations marched with a petition highlighting the Ban against FGM and other harmful traditional practices to the Legislature of Liberia.

It wasn’t just a march but a stand for the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of girls across Liberia. By presenting the petition against FGM, we amplified the voices of survivors whose psychological scars often remain unseen: trauma, anxiety, depression, and lifelong fear.

FGM causes severe physical effects such as excessive bleeding, infections, childbirth complications, and lifelong pain along with hidden wounds are just as devastating including trauma, anxiety, depression, loss of trust, and emotional distress that can last a lifetime. It even leads to death.

Our women and girls deserve safety, dignity and healing, it’s not a privilege but a human right.

Let’s amplify the voices of survivors whose physical scars and psychological scars often remain unseen.

LISS Initiative, represented by our Executive Director, Sandra Jumah Dorbor participated in the “Opposition Mapping and Monitoring, and Coalition Building Training” organized by Community Health Care Initiative INC.

The training enhanced our capacities as human rights defenders with hands-on tools in assessing potential risks to achieving a right-based advocacy for family values and inclusion, improving our skills for effective and evidence-based advocacy.

This training was not only timely but also essential for strengthening our work as a mental health organization committed to human rights, inclusion, and community wellbeing.
