‎Office of the Secretary-General
‎PRESS STATEMENT.

‎Subject: BUSU REBORN: END-OF-YEAR REFLECTION AND STATEMENT OF PROGRESS.

‎12/30/2025

‎The B**g University Students Union (BUSU), through the Office of the Secretary-General, extends profound appreciation and gratitude to all university students of B**g County across Liberia and the diaspora for their resilience, commitment, and unwavering support throughout the year under review.
‎This year represents a historic turning point in the life of BUSU. After nearly a decade of dormancy, silence, and marginalization, the Union has awakened strong, organized, and fearless in its mission to represent, protect, and advance the interests of B**g County students. What was once considered dead is now alive, vibrant, and ready to move stronger than ever before.
‎Through collective resolve and sustained advocacy, BUSU successfully secured student representation on the Madam Suakoko Scholarship Committee and ensured the fast-tracking of the scholarship process, engaging over 900 students. The Union also expanded vocational and technical training opportunities through the support of Veteran Martin K. N. Kollie and the Martin K. N. Kollie Foundation, creating pathways for skills development, self-reliance, and empowerment.
‎BUSU boldly challenged misinformation and the opaque handling of student-related funds, demanding transparency, accountability, and meaningful student participation. The Union consistently defended its legitimacy against misrepresentation, emerging united and recognized as the authoritative voice of B**g County university students.

‎We acknowledge that although not all expectations publicly expressed or individually felt were met this year. Yet these unmet expectations serve not as setbacks but as fuel for collective determination. Through unity, discipline, and collaboration, what could not be achieved this year will be accomplished in the year ahead.
‎The Union now calls on all sons and daughters of B**g County across the world to join in this renewed movement. Our doors are open to all who are committed to the growth and development of the student community of our motherland. BUSU is awake. BUSU is active. BUSU is fearless and together, we will make history.

‎All delegated leaders, campus representatives, and past BUSU leaders are respectfully encouraged to acknowledge this release by commenting their full name and current or former position, demonstrating unity, awareness, and collective ownership of the Union’s revival and progress.

‎Update on the Madam Suakoko Scholarship.

‎Through the tireless advocacy and efforts of the B**g University Students Union (BUSU), the Madam Suakoko Scholarship Program has been fast-tracked. Today, September 27, 2025, the aptitude test was successfully administered for all eligible sons and daughters of B**g County who applied for the scholarship on time .

‎The advocacy continues, and BUSU is making headlines! The Union extends heartfelt appreciation to the B**g County Caucus, the Superintendent of B**g County, and the County Council for their role in fast-tracking the Madam Suakoko Scholarship Program, in accordance with BUSU’s tireless advocacy and efforts.

‎During the observation of the test today, BUSU noticed that over 900 young people turned out, showing their deep readiness and commitment to education. We therefore urge the County Leadership to focus more on the student community and the youth, as we are the leaders of tomorrow and the future of B**g County rests in us.
‎We reminds everyone that together, we can achieve more than the Madam Suakoko Scholarship. With unity and persistence, students can access broader opportunities at the local, national, and international levels.
