Here you go! Your daily sip of self-kindness!

Did you know self-kindness is one of the three core ingredients of self-compassion? (Move over, fancy coffee blends!)

According to Dr. Kristin Neff, self-compassion = self-kindness + mindfulness + common humanity (aka meaningful connections). Basically, it’s the recipe for treating yourself like an old friend when life gets Luxem-bumpy. (hehehehe)

Why sprinkle self-kindness on your expat journey?

It helps soften those “I should have...” thoughts with a gentle “It’s okay, I’m learning”.

It reminds us that everyone fumbles awkward moyens, not just us (hey, common humanity!).

And it encourages us to savor the process, not just the achievements.

Today’s tiny act: Next time you catch your inner critic nagging, pause and ask, "Would I speak to a friend this way?” If not, trade that harshness for something warm-like, “Hey, at least I only got lost twice and missed my tram stop once today!” That’s self-kindness in practice. It may not solve all expat woes, but it does help them feel lighter.

Ready for your daily refill? Save this post and pour a friend a cup of kindness by sharing it.

Hi there!

So I am starting something new :)

I will share daily affirmations from Monday to Friday in my stories. Every Saturday, I will share a journaling prompt as inspiration.

Feel free to screenshot them and let me know which one you liked the most. I will share those here, so more people can see them. And hopefully it will make you feel warm, fuzzy, happy, and better. And maybe we can share those feelings with others as well :)

If you continue swiping, you will see all the prompts (besides Monday's) for you to try out and see what you can expect in the future.

Let me know which one had the biggest impact on you :)

Hi there,

I finally cracked the code on being cool and up-to-trend - MEMES 😀
Who could have known!

From the magic of memes to the magic of routines. Routines can be the magical ingredient how you can make your dreams come true. However, your routine needs to fit your lifestyle.

How is your routine looking like? Does it help you to reach your goals?

A coach might help you to find the perfect routine for you! Feel free to contact me for a free consultation and to discuss how I can help you to live the life you want.

Congratulations to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce on their engagement. And thank you for all the fun your engagement pictures are providing us with.

The confidence secret that changed everything for me as an expat.

Moving to Luxembourg taught me that the voice in your head can either be your biggest critic or your best cheerleader.

Guess which one builds actual confidence?

When I first arrived, I'd beat myself up over everything - mispronouncing French words, not understanding cultural norms, and just struggling with everyday bureaucracy (and no - being German didn't prepare me the slightest... because Luxembourg is digitally too advanced 😅)

That harsh inner critic wasn't helping me adapt - it was holding me back.

The game-changer? Learning to speak to myself like I would to my best friend. Not toxic positivity or fake mantras, but genuine self-compassion backed by research.

Swipe through for 6 science-backed ways to build real confidence through self-kindness,

Your turn: Which technique will you try first? Let me know in the comments --> I will read and respond to every single one.

You can be confident anywhere and anytime!

What helps you to stay grounded and confident in challenging situation?

Confidence is not the absence of doubt; it's the willingness to act despite it. For anyone who feels anxious walking into a new space, you're not alone - me too. The goal isn't to eliminate those feelings, but to challenge them.

Here are three simple strategies to help you stay grounded and confident:

What helps you to stay grounded and confident in challenging situations? Their viewpoint can help you see things more clearly and move past your self-doubt.

Remember to breathe. Before you enter an uncomfortable situation, take a few deep breaths. This small pause can have a big impact on your nervous system.

Enter with intention. Define how you want to show up. Instead of just "being confident," set a specific, actionable goal. This focus makes a big, vague idea much more manageable.

You've got this!

Which of these tips will you try out first?

Hey there! Great to meet you! 😊

I’ve been hanging around here for a while, but it’s about time I officially say hello. So, Hi I’m Jessie!

I left my home country back in 2011, and except for some breaks, I’ve been on quite the adventure, living on four continents and in nine countries! I’m fluent in English and German, and I’m hoping to add French and Chinese soon. Fingers crossed for no embarrassing mishaps!

Growing up, cats have always been a part of my life. The week after I was born, the cat distribution system added one to my family - talk about purr-fect timing! Once I headed off to study, I couldn’t wait to get back to living with fluffy chaos-makers. Now my two feline companions, Anubis and Apollo, definitely keep life interesting and chaotic!

I am what you would call in German a “Streber”, which means something like "smarty pants." Yep, that's me! I absolutely love learning new things. Right now, I'm diving deep into communication and networking, but I also have a lifelong fascination with science. As a kid, I was that weirdo who read science magazines meant for adults. Guess what? I still do! Lately, I’ve been particularly focused on psychology while working on my master’s thesis (Spoiler alert it is going to be about failing!)

Speaking of coaching, I’ve got two certifications under my belt: one from ARGE and Siegmund Freud University in Vienna. Fun fact: coaching in Austria is actually regulated. I’m also in the process of getting my ICF credentials, which is considered an international quality standard.

What I’m all about is delivering quality coaching rooted in real science. And yes, I can’t wait to share more about my master thesis with you soon!

So, stick around if you want to join me on this journey of learning and growth - let’s inspire each other!

After another little break, I'm back!

Isn't it wild how the months of May, June, and July just fly by, and then suddenly, August arrives and everything in Luxembourg seems to slow down?

This past month was a whirlwind, but in the best possible way. While my photo dump might make it look like I was traveling non-stop, the truth is, I was only away for a few days visiting my family in the Black Forest.

It was a beautiful reminder of the importance of taking time to reconnect with what truly fills your cup. I was completely blown away by a street art festival in Blumberg, where artists created incredible pieces with nothing but chalk. I also spent a serene day on Mainau, the "flower island" on Lake Constance. If you're ever near the Bodensee, I highly recommend hopping on a ferry to this botanical oasis—it’s the perfect place to find some peace and recharge.

But it wasn't all travel! I also took the time to rediscover some gems right here in Luxembourg. I finally explored the Casemates and made a trip to Vianden, both of which I highly recommend. It’s so easy to get caught up in the daily grind, and it was a great reminder to be a tourist in my own adopted home.

In between all of that, I was busy working on my coaching business and volunteering. I also took a full day to hold a solo off-site, just me, myself, and I. I used this time to reflect on my professional goals and how to reach them. In fact, this post is a direct result of that reflection—a commitment to showing up more consistently and sharing my journey with you.

Now that we've reached August, this natural slowdown is the perfect opportunity to reflect and set some new intentions.

How can you use this month to rest, recharge, and reconnect with your purpose?

And while you are at it, what hidden and not the hidden gems in Luxembourg would you suggest to discover next?

How do you stay confident in a tough job market?

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of hosting a workshop with IDCN on just that — how to stay confident during the application process.

A big THANK YOU to PWC for joining us and sharing their wisdom - from CV tips to mindset shifts!

Here’s what stood out:

✨ Confidence starts with recognizing your worth
Make a list of everything you're proud of — no matter how small. Moved to a new country? Learned something new? Stayed resilient? THAT counts.

📌 Top tips from our session:
✔️ Tailor your CV not just to the role - but to the company & team
✔️ Highlight key points (bold them!) - recruiters skim fast
✔️ Apply even if you’re not a 100% match - be brave
✔️ Use the STAR method to show impact
✔️ Show your soft skills through real action (certifications, projects, growth)

✨ And always remember: You are already worthy.

Keep showing up. Keep being you. Your story is your strength. 💫

Want to boost your confidence? Start with a pen.

Journaling isn’t just for poets and teenagers - it’s a powerful tool for building self-awareness and rewiring your inner dialogue.

These 5 prompts are designed to help you shift your focus from self-doubt to self-trust. By reflecting on your strengths, patterns, and growth, you give your brain solid proof: You’ve got this!!!

Try these prompts:
✔️ List 5 things you’re good at
✔️ What type of compliment do you often get?
✔️ What did you learn today?
✔️ What is your favorite thing about yourself?
✔️ If you could give your past self advice on embracing your quirks, what would you say?

Because let’s be honest - your quirks are usually your superpowers in disguise. 😎
Save this for your next journaling session - and give your confidence the memo it deserves.

Lost in Translation… at the Doctor’s Office?

Living abroad sometimes makes me feel like a kid again - everything is new, exciting… and confusing. 😅 When I first needed blood work in Luxembourg, I had no clue where to go! In Germany, the doctor handles it, but here? No idea. I felt silly. But I asked a local colleague, and guess what? Problem solved.

Lesson? Be brave, ask for help, and trust yourself. If you’ve made it this far, you can handle the small stuff too! 💪

Did you know that the word confidence comes from the Latin confidere, meaning to fully trust? So, at its core, self-confidence is about trusting yourself - your capabilities, your choices, and your unique way of navigating life.

But let’s be real - trusting yourself isn’t always coming easy. I’ve been there, questioning if I was doing enough, if I was fitting in, if I was on the right path. And honestly? Those questions haven’t disappeared completely. Sometimes, they can even be helpful.

But here’s what I have learned: I can trust certain things about myself - my empathy, my curiosity, my willingness to grow… oh, and my cats, and my ability to cook some truly ugly-looking but delicious food (pro tip: if I ever serve you a beautifully plated meal… run! 😂).

If you know someone who needs this reminder, send this their way.
