Hi Everybody!

We would like to share what’s going on with Jared.

Many of you know that the news we heard in the fall was not what we had hoped for. Jared’s tumor shows signs of growth or imminent growing. His physical symptoms have worsened, he’s experiencing frequent migraines and fatigue along with vertigo and dizziness.

His doctor here said that treatment would be necessary as the tumor would grow and growth would be debilitating but hasn’t moved forward with a plan.

After hearing testimony of a wonderful young father that God has worked miracles on both physically and spiritually, Jared and Libby have decided to apply to the program at MD Anderson that saved this man’s life.

We’re grateful to say that Jared has been accepted into the Cancer Center in Houston and will be flying there on the 12th to meet with the oncologist and a neurosurgeon.

They will be there for three days. If the doctors believe they can help Jared, things may move quickly for the family.

So our prayer requests are this

That this program will accept Jared and be able to effectively treat his cancer. That the tumor will be destroyed.

That Libby and Jared have safe travels and clear answers.

That their faith be further defined and their trust in The Lord be deepened.

That things go smooth logistically and decisions for the family are clear. They will be making decisions about temporary housing, travel, child care, finances, all of that.

That the boys feel secure in the disruptions.

And ultimately that God be glorified no matter what He chooses for our precious family.

Thank you all for your care, friendship and prayers. Thank you friends and family behind the scenes who are working to help with logistics. We love you all.

Hi everyone,

I’m sorry we make you wait for an update. We needed to talk to family first.

Yesterday’s appointment did not go as well as we had hoped.

Tumor appears to be growing but we won’t be sure until we get the full report from the radiologist but increased symptoms seem to validate growth.

The doctor says that treatment may start this year as there is no room for any growth. The tumor is next to his brain stem. It is still the original tumor and not glioblastoma but because of its position that isn’t any better except that it may grow slower.

Surgery is not an option at all.
Chemo won’t be effective.
Gene therapy is possible but the tumor is so rare it’s never been tried. There are debilitating side effects .
Radiation is most likely but will have very serious side affects possibly to vision, mobility, speech , etc.

As always, Jared is Jared: positive and as upbeat as possible. He loves Jesus, loves his family, loves his community of believers, loves his students. He trusts God as do we even as we are begging Him for Jared’s health.

We covet your fervent prayers. We know God is the Healer, Comforter, Counselor and as this time of year reminds us , He is Emmanuel, God with us. I hope He is with you as well. I know that is Jared’s biggest hope as well.

I’m sorry we didn’t update sooner. Moffit agreed with UF Jared will need to wait until mid December for another MRI. They also said his oncologist here is great. Please pray for the family as we wait.

Please be praying for Jared and Libby as they travel to Tampa to get a second opinion on Jared’s last MRI.

Thanks for your continued prayers for Jared McCombs. Still no MRI appointment but Libby McCombs is leaving no stone unturned! She has a few more places to check into today. Jared has an appointment with the neurologist scheduled for October 1st but he needs the MRI and the results before that appointment. He is having increased nausea and headaches so it’s really important that he gets checked out as soon as possible. Please continue to pray for healing too!!

The issue is becoming more complicated as a hurricane is headed their way and should make land fall on Thursday.
