While watching the Masters, an innocent question from my 4-year-old made me pause and reflect. With curious eyes, he asked why Rory seemed so sad. In a tender moment, I explained to him that they were tears of joy—joy from immeasurable dedication, relentless hard work, aching muscles, sleepless nights, and an unwavering spirit that finally sees triumph.

On this same day, Bryson, with his tiny hands, earned his own small badge of toil—a blister from the driving range. It was his first taste of the sting of practice, a hint of the struggles every athlete endures. It made me draw parallels to parenting and the world we see around us today.

To all the parents out there: don't shy away from pushing your children towards greatness. Like blisters and tears on this journey, life lessons are not always comfortable, but they’re invaluable. They might not understand now, but each challenge, each fallback, and each effort you encourage them to overcome will sculpt them into resilient, accomplished individuals.

Let those blisters become badges of tenacity, and those tears ones of joy. One day, they will look back and thank you for instilling in them the strength and perseverance to chase their dreams. The lessons lie in the journey, and those small victories will shape them in profound ways, more than any of us may ever realize.
