1. Ātman (Soul / Self)
• Yoga: Pure, unchanging essence beyond thought — the witness of all experience.
• Psychology: Core self — stable awareness beneath personality and trauma.

2. Buddhi (Intellect / Higher Mind)
• Yoga: Inner wisdom and discernment (viveka); guides right action.
• Psychology: Observing mind — clarity, insight, conscious choice.
✨ Discerns truth and makes mindful decisions.
3. Ahaṃkāra (Ego / “I-maker”)
• Yoga: Sense of individuality; identifies Self with body and roles.
• Psychology: Ego — self-image, identity, and defense mechanisms.

4. Manas (Mind / Sensory-Emotional Mind)
• Yoga: Reactive mind processing sensory input.
• Psychology: Subconscious — automatic thoughts, feelings, emotional responses.

5. Chitta (Consciousness / Mind-field)
• Yoga: Storehouse of impressions (saṃskāras), memory, and emotion.
• Psychology: Subconscious + unconscious — deep emotional patterns and conditioning.
