I had to undergo a tooth extraction due to grade III mobility — the most severe level of tooth looseness — which was further complicated by uncontrolled diabetes. 😷
For those who don’t know, diabetes can significantly affect oral health. When blood sugar isn’t well-managed, it can weaken the body’s ability to fight infection and slow down healing, making gum disease worse and accelerating tooth loss. In my case, it led to advanced periodontal disease and severe tooth mobility.
If you’re living with diabetes, please don’t ignore your dental checkups. Oral health and overall health are deeply connected. 🩺🦷
