A 31-year-old patient presented to the clinic with severe swelling and inflammation of the jaw following a poorly performed surgical extraction of a lower molar, which resulted in:
• Lacerations of the gingiva on both sides of the tooth
• Infection at the extraction site
• Progression to dry socket (alveolar osteitis) with severe pain and distressing complications
🔹 Management included:
✔️ Careful surgical debridement of the extraction site
✔️ Bone recontouring (alveoloplasty) to promote proper healing
✔️ Management of infection and pain control
✔️ Aesthetic and functional suturing of the gingival tissues
✨ Outcome: Significant improvement, pain reduction, and healthy tissue healing initiated
📌 This case highlights the importance of proper surgical technique during tooth extraction, as well as early intervention when abnormal symptoms arise.
