Are you kidding me? Are you serious!!! I am mad and flabbergasted! Some will think it is not excessive, I will argue that it is!
12,000 LYD a month is excessive as a monthly salary. Where is the patriotism, where is the love for Libya? I would think 4-5,000 is suitable, but 12,000 plus housing and health insurance?
When the normal Libyan is struggling to make ends meet, where they normal salary is 500-1,000 usually for a large family, where the cost of goods such as clothing and vehicles is rising, this is unacceptable!
I was a government employee and my salary was at best 750 LYD, and overseas I was a government administrator and 12,000 LYD even in the U.S. would be a lot!
I the Libyan Citizen, demand that the salary be lowered to 5,000 LYD a month, and that transparency and openness, as to the salaries, of all members of the General National Congress by posted and easily accessible for all to see.
In addition, I would even argue that the issue of salaries for the General National Congress by put to the Libyan Citizen to decide!
I know it seems excessive, but please rethink your decision, and now is not the time to take such actions, as for on the street it seems to us the Libyan citizens, that you are greedy...
Just take it back to a vote, and recommend the salary be lowered to 5,000 LYD, we wouldn't mind if it would be even less:)
In closing, now is not the time, Libya needs patriots now and later, and your job and role as the first members of the General National Congress, you supposed to be leading by example!
Sincerely,
Aladdin El-Haraty
The Libyan Citizen
