Heart Walk 2024 ✅

This was year #6 of walking in the Wichita Heart Walk in honor of our Hudson!

Every year is so special getting to celebrate the journey Hudson has overcome and it will always make me tear up knowing how much Hudson has battled through! 🥹

So thankful for Hudson’s village and so proud of Hudson! ♥️ Half the heart but twice the fight! 💪

HAPPY 5️⃣ BIRTHDAY to my favorite little boys ever!! 🥹

I can’t believe you two are already 5 years old! I still remember when we were going through some of the hardest times as new parents and dealing with Hudson’s medical issues, James saying “man, I can’t wait until they are 5.” And here we are, we made it!!

Hunter ~ you are smart, witty, kind, so so handsome and my gentle giant! You love hanging out with friends, you meet new friends wherever we go. You are athletic, love playing sports and everything is a competition! You say you either want to be a football player or race car driver when you grow up but mom doesn’t want you to be either of those! 😂 We love you so so much hunter boy!

Hudson ~ You are my tiny fighter who is so fierce, your smile brightens anyone’s day, your laugh is contagious, you are smart, silly and literally the most easy going toddler I’ve ever met! I don’t know if you are more competitive then your brother so we will call it a tie! 😏 We may be letting you get into playing some sports soon and we can’t wait to watch your competitive spirit really come out! You also want to be a race car driver when you get older but that’s a hard no by both mom and dad! Our little miracle boy for life, we love you so dang much!!

We can’t wait to watch what year 5 brings to you both!! 💙💙

It’s not very often that we get one on one time with our kids but let me tell ya, Hudson got the royal treatment today (for the most part)!

Hudson had a liver ultrasound bright and early this morning. Then we went to have some fun at Deanna Rose Farmstead (in between doctor appointments) where he ate ice cream, fed the goats 🐐 and took a hayride!

✨Now for the major update:

Whether we are ready or not, Hudson will be having his 3rd open heart surgery on September 28th. This will {hopefully} be his last open heart surgery to help Hudson thrive the rest of his life! Hudson’s last OHS was when he was 6 months old so needless to say, we are pretty dang nervous/anxious/stressed about this one…. Hudson has been thriving and we couldn’t be more proud of him and how he has handled living with “half a heart.” ♥️

But for now, bring on preschool, fall festivities and the boys turning 4 years old!

Ps. A HUGE thank you to mom/grandma and Aunt Kimberly for spoiling Hunter and Payton while we were gone. Love you guys so much!

Hey all!

My amazing sister is making us “Hudson our Hero” shirts this year for the Wichita Heart Walk (in person at Wichita Riverfront stadium on June 25th) and for his potential 3rd open heart surgery we are anticipated him to have in the next couple of months. 😔

If you would like to support Hudson, come walk with us, in person or virtually, we would LOVE for you to join!

Here is what my sister has to say about Hudson our Hero: ♥️♥️

**Most of you know, but some do not. My nephew waw born with HLHS(hypoplastic left heart syndrome). He essentially does not have a left ventricle(BIG DEAL!) He underwent his first heart surgery when he was 4 days old and another around 6 months! This coming summer he is anticipated to have his 3rd open heart surgery. He has had numerous heart caths and hospital stays.

Honestly you would never know the kid is sick! He is a walking stinkin miracle!! Thank you Jesus!!!!

June 25th is the American Heart Associations annual heart walk. This will be Hudsons 4th heart walk! We always have a team and would LOVE for as many people to join! Even if you can’t be there physically, virtually is great!! This past month Hudson was featured at the American Heart Associations heart ball!

He was a rockstar!!! I’ll post the video of his journey. (Make sure you have some tissues on hand)!

We are making shirts for the walk BUT also as a fundraiser to help my sister, brother in law, Hudson, hunter and Payton prepare and cover costs for his surgery this summer!

Here is what the shirts will look like. They will be printed on grey shirts!! Lets load these parents/kiddos up with some extra cash so they ONLY thing they have to worry about is making Hudsons heart healthy!!

Thank you in advance!!!

Adults:$25
Kids:$20

You can comment below to order or private message me!

I am keeping this open until June 15th!!!

Today is the beginning of Congenital Heart Disease Week. ❤️ I will be posting something every day this week in honor of Hudson and his Journey with a CHD.

Did you know 1 in every 100 births, a baby is diagnosed with a CHD. Before Hudson was born I never knew about congenital heart disease and what they all entail.

Hudson was born with one of the most severe CHDs called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Meaning the left ventricle is severely undeveloped and not functioning; Hence the saying, born with half a heart!

We found out Hudson was diagnosed with HLHS at our 20 week anatomy scan. We prepared for his birth as best as we could knowing he would undergo his first open heart surgery at just 4 days old.

Since birth Hudson has had 2 open heart surgeries (his team believes he may be ready for his third and “final” open heart surgery this summer 😭), countless heart Caths, heart MRIs, too many echos, EKGs, blood draws and doctors appts to keep count of. And one of the scariest obstacles Hudson has been through is coding in the heart cath and having to be placed on ECMO (a heart and lung bypass machine). But he came out fighting and what an AMAZING and MIRACULOUS little boy he is!

Having a child born with a CHD is such a rollercoaster of a journey but he is the orneriest, funniest and strongest boy I will ever know!

*pictures are of him recovering from his first open heart surgery to just a week ago! It’s so amazing what a team of great doctors/surgeons/nurses can do!

💗4 months old!

Payton is still the most happy and chill baby even though she doesn’t like to nap the past couple of weeks!

✨She sleeps great during the night
✨She started giggling & it’s the cutest thing ever!
✨She loves to chew on anything and everything
✨She is in 6-9 month clothes and getting so tall!

She has stolen the hearts of everyone in our family & the boys still adore her (so I call that a win in by book 🙌)

We love you Payton Mae and love watching you grow!!

Ps. Hudson may regret wanting to wear sister’s bows in a few years 😂

👀 ᴛʜᴏsᴇ ʟɪᴛᴛʟᴇ ᴡᴏɴᴅᴇʀɪɴɢ ᴇʏᴇs ᴀʀᴇ ᴀʟᴡᴀʏs ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ, ᴍᴏᴍᴍᴀ!⁣

As a mom to three little ones, I know how hard it can be carving time out of the day for you!⁣

I know we care for our families needs before ourselves. ⁣

I know it’s HARD getting up at 5 am every morning before the kids wake up just so you can get a workout in before the chaos begins when all you want to do it sleep in! ⁣

BUT.... you HAVE to make yourself a priority! When you invest the time in prioritizing yourself, you are saying YES to a longer and healthier lifestyle! ⁣

You are saying YES to playing with your kids, jumping in foam pits & chasing 🏃‍♀️ them around the house hours on end! ⁣

I want to be that mom that doesn’t ever miss a moment; a mom that says yes to playing ball 🏀 with my kids & pushing them on their four wheelers when the battery dies 😆.

Being a mom is the hardest job ever but it’s also the most 𝗙𝗨𝗡 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗘𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚! And in order to be a YES Mom, we have to take care of ourselves too. ⁣

Remember, our little ones are 𝗔𝗟𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦 watching, so be a great example for them!

➡️ What are some of your favorite activities to do with your kiddos?!

🛑 Stop being SO dang hard on yourself, momma! ⁣

This is a phrase I have to tell myself A LOT... especially after going through two pregnancies (one with twins)! ⁣

As moms, we are SO quick to compare ourselves to others who may have “bounced back” quicker or “look better” then we do after having babies. ⁣

⬆️ Here I am 1 week PP, 1 month PP & 2.5 months PP with my third child. When I first looked at these pictures, I hung my head because I don’t like the way I look right now. But then I quickly realized that I have to give myself grace & time! ⏰ ⁣

As moms we are always taking care of others BEFORE ourselves so respect the hard work you are doing NOW. ⁣

Momma’s, I’m here to tell you that YOU are a badass and the way your body looks right now, is just perfect! You don’t have to “like” your body at this very moment but you need to respect it!⁣

We are a work in progress! ⁣

Word to the wise: ⁣
☑️ Make yourself a priority too⁣
☑️ Set goals⁣
☑️ Make plans⁣
☑️ And commit to doing the work... and allow YOUR timeline to look different!⁣

Decide what you want, do it well & build confidence in yourself with small wins each and every day! 💪 ⁣

➡️ Embrace your body, enjoy your kids & love yourself fiercely! ⁣

🤰 “Having babies will ruin your body.” “Say goodbye to your body and hello to stretch marks and wide hips.” ⁣

These are just a few things I’ve been told when I decided to have kids and let me just tell you, it’s a bunch of bull ho**ey! 😡 ⁣

Women’s bodies are 𝐼𝑁𝐶𝑅𝐸𝐷𝐼𝐵𝐿𝐸 and to be able to grow & carry children is a miracle in itself! ⁣

YES, we sacrifice our bodies for 9 months..⁣

YES, we may feel sluggish, slow and not very pretty at times...⁣

YES, we gain weight, get stretch marks and get “unwanted” marks on our bodies...⁣

BUT remember...⁣
You 𝐶𝐴𝑁 & 𝑊𝐼𝐿𝐿 get your body back if that is what you want! Nine months is a short time in the span of our lives! ⁣

SO momma’s, give yourself 𝐺𝑅𝐴𝐶𝐸 and have 𝑃𝐴𝑇𝐼𝐸𝑁𝐶𝐸. ⁣

We are fricken 𝑅𝑂𝐶𝐾𝑆𝑇𝐴𝑅𝑆. We can literally do anything we set our 𝑀𝐼𝑁𝐷𝑆 to!💥 ⁣

As a Health Coach, I will be here cheering you on through your pregnancy, through the tough times and when YOU make your comeback! 👏 ⁣

Let’s talk about ☝️ of the most important things that is SO overlooked & underused... 𝑾𝑨𝑳𝑲𝑰𝑵𝑮 🚶‍♀️

One of the things I tell my clients (especially those who sit at a desk all day for work) is to make sure they are getting up every hour to walk & get their blood flow pumping!

Walking has been my exercise of choice since I’ve been pregnant, often times I will incorporate 5 lbs hand weights! 🏋️‍♀️ I strive to take at least 10,000 steps a day!

Some Benefits of Walking include:

✨ Improves circulation
✨ Lowers blood pressure
✨ Reduces risk of a stroke
✨ Can help stop the loss of bone mass
✨ Improves your mood (this is a big one for me!)
✨ Improves sleep & helps lose weight 🙌
✨ AND for all us pregnant 🤰 mommas ~ walking can help with a shorter, easier labor!

So start taking 𝙰𝙳𝚅𝙰𝙽𝚃𝙰𝙶𝙴 of one of the easiest & cheapest forms of exercise you can get!

👉 How many steps a day do you get in?!

🆘 I know d͟a͟m͟n͟ good and well, you are NOT getting enough of this.....H2O 💦

WATER is so important to your health {especially us pregnant 🤰 mommas}!

I used to be the W͟O͟R͟S͟T͟ about drinking enough water throughout the day until I realized just how important it was for my overall HEALTH!

💧 Staying hydrated affects energy levels & brain function! Many people suffer from dehydration which leads to memory loss and reduction in brain performance...

💧TMI but H2O helps relieve constipation ~ and no one wants to get backed up... 💩

💧Water helps aid in weightloss and physical performance 💪

💧For all ya pregnant mommas, just like taking prenatal vitamins, water helps your body absorb essential nutrients into the cells & transports vitamins, minerals and hormones to the blood cells. Which these nutrient rich blood cells reach the placenta & ultimately your 𝑩𝑨𝑩𝒀!

💧Drinking enough water also helps prevent pre-term labor!

💧It’s recommended to drink 8-10 glasses or around 2 liters of water a day....So this is your mid-week reminder to drink your dang water!!

👉 Who struggles with drinking enough water throughout the day?

🏋️‍♀️ 𝐈𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐭𝗼 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐭? ⁣⁣👉🏼 YES, when done in moderation & you have consulted with your health...

🏋️‍♀️ 𝐈𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐭𝗼 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐭? ⁣

👉🏼 YES, when done in moderation & you have consulted with your healthcare provider! ⁣

Weight training is a great way to stay fit and healthy during your pregnancy and provides benefits after childbirth as well! ⁣

Your workouts should be geared towards maintaining and not dramatic gains or loses! ⁣

✨ 𝐀 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝗼 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝗺𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠:⁣

1. Always check in with your healthcare provider to make sure your current exercise regimen is ok for YOU to continue. ⁣

2. Use lower weights, do higher reps! To avoid overloading joints that are already loosened due to the increase in the hormone relaxin during pregnancy, do more repetitions with lighter weights! ⁣

3. Don’t lift while flat on your back! After the first trimester, lying on your back can put pressure on a main vein called the Vena Cava, diminishing the blood flow to your uterus and brain. Make sure to use an incline bench to lift after your first trimester! ⁣

4. ALWAYS listen to your body! If you’re feeling muscle strain or extreme fatigue, modify the moves you are doing or reduce the frequency of your workouts. Pregnancy isn’t a time to push yourself in your workouts! 💥 ⁣

Baby GIRL 🎀 and I enjoy our workouts but they are low weight and high rep! ⁣

Mommas, ENJOY yourself while you are growing a little miracle. There is always a time and place for you to get back to killing your workouts! ⁣

In the meantime, embrace the journey but continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle! 🙌⁣
