Healing is possible and we are here to help!

July is Birth Trauma Awareness Month.

- About 1 in 20 people will experience PTSD after giving birth.

- For those with added risk factors like emergency interventions, lack of support, or mistreatment, that number jumps to 1 in 7.

We believe survivors, we advocate for respectful, equitable maternity care, and we’re here to remind you that healing is possible.

🆘 Need Help?
🔵 In an emergency or crisis situation, call or text 988.
🔵 In a non-emergency situation, call or text the HelpLine at 800-944-4773. You never need a diagnosis to ask for help.
🔵 Call or text the National Hotline at 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262).

Have you had a baby within the last 2 years? Are you between 20 and 38 years old? Please consider participating in this important research!!

Are you between the ages of 20 and 38 years old, have given birth in the last 2 years, and currently live in Indiana? You can take part in a research study through Ball State University looking at the mental health and lived experiences of young mothers in Indiana. The study aims to help eliminate the gap in the literature regarding young mothers' experiences with mental health and identity in Indiana.

To take part in the research study, go to https://bsu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_efcMYZlyGgQjLiS?Q_CHL=qr

For questions, contact Keldyn Young, MA at klyoung@bsu.edu.

It's okay to ask for, and receive, help. New and early parenthood is a time to remember that you are in the season of receiving, as our own Birdie Gunyon Meyer says, and to accept the help that is offered to you, without feeling guilty about it. You deserve support and care, too 💙

If you need help or support:
🔷 Call or text the Postpartum Support International HelpLine at 800-944-4773. You never need a diagnosis to ask for help.
🔷 Call or text the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-852-6262
🔷 In a crisis situation, call or text the National Su***de & Crisis Lifeline at 988.
🔷 Download the Connect by PSI app in the App Store or Google Play Store
🔷 Visit postpartum.net for additional programs and resources.
